I remember seeing the Daily Show do a similar segment with President Bush.

Odd debate. They took his position against the Iraq war and put it in opposition to his position regarding the war in Afghanistan. The trouble is, he's been consistent about both. He never agreed with the war in Iraq, and he thought the right conflict to have was in Afghanistan.

I think criticism of Afghanistan on it's own merits is perfectly legitimate, but this paints a picture of inconsistency that's just not supported by the facts.

It is too easy to pick on Bush. That is like going fishing in someone's living room aquarium; with a stick of dynamite. Especially for a group with the comedic talent of the Daily Show.

I suppose this is a nice validation of Bush, though -- he was so successful in Iraq that Obama has selected his strategies as the model for Afghanistan.
