For one of our rush events in college, I brought in a hypnotist. I figured it would be entertaining, but it was pretty damn incredible.
It was mostly standard fare... said everyone would be affected, blah blah, but if you were interested in trying, just pay attention.
I would guess out of the audience of 150 (I knew 75% of them personally, the others were either members girlfriends I hadn't met yet, or prospectives), probably 20 people appeared to be hypnotized. He brought them up the stage, they acted silly (cluck like a chicken, etc) and we all got a good laugh.
Then.. well, he selected 1 girl out of the ones on the stage, one that I hung out with quite a bit, and grabbed 3 folding chairs and placed them about 5 feet apart between the two ends.
He had sit down in one chair, then lay down so that middle of her shoulders were resting on the seat of one chair and her knees were in the seat of the other, then told her should be as stiff as a board. At this point, he pulled the middle chair out from under her... she was still laying level to the floor, but only supported by the chair at her shoulders and the chair at her knees.
He walked around a little bit talking, about 2-3 minutes, enough that even the strongest abs in the room would have collapsed, then took off his shoes, and stood on her stomach.
I **** you not, he weighed about 160 pounds, standing on this girls stomach who weighed about 100 pounds, supported only at her shoulders and knees, for about 45 seconds before he stepped down.
It was incredible.
Then, before he "broke" the hypnosis on the ones that it worked upon, he gave them one last command... you will never fall asleep while driving. Then woke them up.
Again, the whole thing was just incredible.
