All this for a probably subsidized monthly transit fare that probably costs less than a week's parking.
Co-workers tell me if I want to park in an exposed lot a couple of blocks away from the building, I can get a spot as cheap as $5 or $10 a day. Translates to between $100 and $200 every month, plus the $60 I'd spend in gas and says nothing of the stress and headaches I'd suffer. Bus pass cost me $128. Ain't exactly subsidized in any direct way but I'm eligible to purchase my bus pass via WageWorks using pre-tax dollars, so I'd be reducing my taxable income by whatever I spend.

No, it's really not bad at all.

Bus pass here costs $100, we get subsidised (State and some others) 75%

Parking costs vary, $120/month (no daily, monthly only) in the garage next to wear I work. $6 a day at the 10 hour meters a couple blocks away. Various lots go $10-$20 a day nearby.

So, when I get back into the habit of riding the bus, which I should, $25 a month, about a weeks parking at the ten hour meters.
