If it's being used against your positions, find better positions or otherwise find a way to argue better. Or don't, and just say what you think and move on. Complaining that other people will cricticize what you say is silly; it's just admitting that you really don't want to deal with disagreement.

Oh I don't have a problem with people criticizing me or my positions. But I do get tired of getting attacked and belittled from time to time. And really more than anything, because the environment here is so contencious, everyone seems read in far more than is posted usually and often distort someone's position, so that you have to spend all this time arguing about how that's not what you said, etc. It just gets draining and silly at times.

That happens to everyone here. If it gets to you, take a break. That actually speaks to another of Monte's weaknesses; he thought it was all directed at him, or at least at liberals, and never seemed to notice some of the knock-down drag-out arguments that didn't involve any liberals that sometimes occur.

Its one thing to do it while they're around--they can defend themselves. Its just chicken**** to do it once their gone.

And this is a line of bullshit. Class has nothing to do with it; in fact this "it's not classy" thing gets thrown around here entirely too often. Part of the reason this board is the way it is comes from the drama that Monte and Bery have created over the years. Trying to pretend that doesn't exist because it's "classier" not to mention them is silly.

In fact, it really doesn't matter if they've done the smart thing and decided just to not even bother reading this place anymore. If they are reading it, well, they shouldn't have gotten themselves banned.

This isn't talking about them behind their back. They can come here and see it if they want to.

I guess the real question is why do you feel the need to talk about them at all?

Who cares? I don't feel a need to; I want to because it's an active topic and like I said, some people are still trying to defend Monte. I don't need to explain my desire to discuss anything.

Not sure who you're referring to, but perhaps it has something to do with the fact that people are still attacking him with little asides, snide comments, or simply all out Monte-sucks posts.

Do you ever just let things go? What ever happened to turning the other cheek? Or Forgivness? I seem to recall such things are virtues at least in your own belief system. He's not a threat to you anymore. Not a threat to your physical well being. Not a threat to your piece of mind. Not a threat to your beliefs. Not even a threat to the peace and quiet of the board or your sanity as you try to argue with him. He's out of your life forever.

Just let it go or prove that you really are just as spiteful as he claimed you are. Be better than that and walk away.

You won. He's gone. Now be a graceful winner.

TheRiov, no one said any of those things.

Not all boobies have a point.

Hopefully not many. Well that depends on your definition of "point" I guess... hmm... deep thoughts.

That argument would hold water except that during previous suspensions/bans we saw this sort of thing for months after as well.

Using the "search" function, I see that Beryllin was banned in April and the thread went on for 24 pages. I have no intention of reading it all, but it seems you people have a ways to go yet on this thread.

Well the thread you're talking about wasn't solely about Beryllin's ban, and it was enflamed from the very beginning. There was a lot of fallout from that incident.

I see. Well, I don't really want to devote a lot of time to searching the why's and such. I just thought it curious his name comes up, when he was banned in April. It seemingly reinforces what TheRiov is saying.

His name was brought up because he's the only other person who's been banned from this board. A comparison between the two cases is natural.

My point is that this is not the only thread where I've seen the name, it has come up elsewhere, and TheRiov spoke of such behavior lasting for months a few posts above. That's the reference I see that gives weight to TheRiov's argument. It doesn't matter to me one way or the other, I barely interacted with Monte and not at all with Beryllin. I'm just pointing out what I see.

So? So what? If you think people should stop posting about Monte, stop posting about how people are posting about Monte. Id this some sort of need to have the last word about how it really wsn't Monte's fault or something?

That concept is irrelevant here.

Irrelevant as well.

I can't beleive you seriously think this is relevant. No one ever thought Monte was a physically violent guy.

I'm not proving any such thing, except maybe to Monte-fanbois who are desperate to have an excuse to believe that.

I am. I'm not interested in being a "graceful winner" in the way you're describing, which apparently is pretending nothing ever happened.

Really, get over yourself. You've just made up your mind that people really did hate monte and you're looking for excuses to confirm it, and being amazingly pompous in the process.

What sort of thing? The fact that people compared other posters to Monte when they made shitty arguments? So what? Monte made shitty arguments his trademark. The comparison was apt. Why don't you just quit with the emo bullshit if you want it to end?
