Ugh. They split the servers euro/na so we cant play together. Why would they do that?

It's standard practice these days.

That's how NCSoft does it. Something about having to maintain the European servers under a different company.

Not for Champions. One server, baby!

I buckled and started it on the EU server anyway. So weak.

I'm now 23, and can understand penny arcade's comic about it being a shiny loot leading to the everworm. Once past 20 the leveling exp becomes a lot slower, still nowhere near EQ style yet, but reaching wow 70+. Once past 20 you'll be looking at around 1 level a day as opposed to the 3-4 levels I was doing.

Gear is also becoming more important and I find my trade skill addiction paying off as I can craft not only my own armor, but sell to keep my addiction going. Down side is I'm throwing around 2 hours a night into it (I am however taking 4 out of the 6 trade skills >=D)

Reaching almost 80 hours+ played time now, I am still trying to find something I don't like about this game. Apart from the usual annoying chats which you can simply leave, the endless bazaar style player stalls you pass in the city which lag you out, and the gold spammers which requires blocking every time you login, I really can't fault this game too much. In fact I can safely say I'm indeed addicted on a level similar to when I first started EQ.

Except that that strip was about a pen-n-paper D&D campaign, and had nothing to do with Aion?

No, that was about a D&D trap, which Lydiaa was clearly metaphoricalizing to equate to Aion.

you are both right hehe...
I did read the penny arcade reference and thought immediately about Aion, however I also did not notice the first panel. so it's a win win hehehe...
What server do you play on Shel? maybe if you wanted, you can come and play with my friends and I on fregion, we play west cost though so it maybe a little late for you if you're east coast.

Lineage II was enough Korean-style MMO for me. Loved the pretty looks (even though everyone basically looked alike--although Sassandra would probably say it got better with the expansions)

I did get a little better I think but honestly I didn't play it for that long because the gameplay really was horible, only nice thing was the graphics.

I've been debating on trying Aion myself, but wasn't sure if I wanted to take the ncsoft gamble, sure they always make games with nice graphics but it could either end up with fairly good gameplay like CoH/CoV or a gameplay trainwreak like Lineage II, plus I don't really want to get sucked into playing it all the time like I used to, right now I hardly play video games and my last LARP was EQ2 which was over a year ago. maybe when the game drops down into the $19.99 bin I may give it a try.

Sadly, I actually had to log in to remind myself which server my characters are on.
My (Elyos) mains are on Ariel, while my (Asmodian) alt is on Fregion. That one was really only created to screw around with when my server was in queue, though, and I'm actually not playing at all right now. I accidentally sucked a few of our friends into (or back into, for one couple) Guild Wars and have been spending my online gaming time there.
Oh, and I'm in Denver so not that far ahead of west coast time.

Well... I'm 30 >=D
I've sucked a couple of EQ friends back into it... I've done the instance... I've developped a hatred for doves.. (I'm a raven i've been told)

If the end game is good, this will be my second EQ. It helps half the guild I'm in are ex EQ players who knows how to play.

The offer is always there for any of you guys who wants to get into it. I have 4 trade skills now up to 300 (about level 30 crafting gear) and I'm happy to twink any one out for free.

If I ever buy this new laptop and find the time to play games, I might jump in.
