I've been rediscovering the awesomeness of KISS as of late. I'd love to see them live. Bruce Springsteen as well comes to mind.

The Eagles would have been my first and only choice I think, but I've since added Don Henley to my much h8 list, and thus crossed the Eagles off.

I suppose I'd like to see some of my favorite old-time musicians live before they pass. Somene like Doc Watson would be a treasure, but I think he's in his 90's now, and it's doubtful he's doing much live performing these days.

Seeing him in his prime would have been a real treat.

Honestly though, rather than a live performance, I think if I had my druthers, I'd love to have been a fly on the wall during the studio sessions when the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band recorded the "Will the Circle Be Unbroken" series. I love listening to the 'chatter' between tracks on those albums.

The likes of Mother Maybelle Carter, Merle Travis, Doc Watson, Roy Acuff, Jimmy Martin, Earle Scruggs, etc.. all hangin' out together must have been a blast to be part of.

There are a few others that while at first I thought, "They would be cool to see live!" I've since thought about it more and realized, "Actually, I don't think I would enjoy going to a live show of theirs." The Doors is one these bands.

With The Doors I think a lot depends on whether you got the meltdown Morrison or the non-meltdown. Non-meltdown Morrison would be an awesome experience; the alternative would be a train wreck.

Finally thought of one: Van Halen. I was supposed to go see them in 1978, I believe, but the concert got rained out and they didn't come back. Instead, I got to see Head East, and Alvin Lee (who was cool, but at the time I had absolutely no clue who he was).

Well, my "maybe not" list has more to do with the audience-experience than the band. Concerts are all about the experience as a whole, crowd included. And I really don't think I'd want to travel back in time and be in a Doors audience.


Shel: Type o Negative would be cool. Very fun band for me to sing with, as he's completely in my range. Sad that he died.

Had Peter Steele not passed away; I would have loved to include them on my list, but they really put on crappy performances live.
