That a painting needs restoration?

Sorry, don't recognize the painting. Thought it was the assassination of Julius Caesar, but I don't think so, now that I look online.

Edit: OK, now, looking at some other posts here, I believe I missed some kind of drama here on the board.

Im still missing the painting, even with being in many classical galleries recently. My memory, or lack thereof, sucks!

What is this all about? We've got 2 obtuse posts here in rants and allusions to drama. Would someone please just lay it all out in frank terms? In a POM if you'd rather not do it openly?

Thanks.

I think Ladas is making some sort of complaint that he was issued a reprimand for flaming on the thread about Obama winning the nobel prize. Just a guess.

Hah, of course that would be your guess.

If so, that's the most obtuse complaint I ever saw.

Which is why I doubt that's what it's about. The other one by Vindi, while someone blunt (though I've been several degrees blunters in the past), was pretty funny to me. Plus there seemed to be a clear allusion that the poster had been drinking when posting.

I thought I understood that one at first, but since its been edited and this one has appeared, now I'm thinking I missed something important.

I wasn't drinking while posting - I was done drinking for the night ;)

The painting is "The Death of Ladas, the Greek Runner, Who Died When Receiving the Crown of Victory in the Temple of Olympia," by George Murray.

If I were to hazard a guess, I'd say that our Ladas maybe ran a marathon this weekend.

Huh, *that's* why your name has always sounded familiar to me, Ladas!

It's weird...George Murray leaves nary a trace of biographical information on the Internet. He's not even on Wikipedia. As near as I can determine, he was British, born 1848, died 1915.

Then again, this art gallery believes he was born 1899, died 1904.

...

Quite an accomplished painter for a 5-year old.

And so here we have it. Yet more evidence that rabid Obama supporters have to defame and assassianate the character of anyone who criticizes the holy one. For it cannot be he actually wears the same imperfect flesh and blood as everyone else. Oh God, no.

Not a marathon, as I hate running just to run, but I rode a century this weekend through some insanely hilly terrain.... after not riding more than 30 miles at a stretch this past year. Not sure what the hell I was thinking.

The first 50 miles were good, few good climbs, some nice flats to cool the leg muscles... the next 20 were rough, and the last 30 were ungodly... the last climb was 17 miles, averaging 9 MPH.

That's how I felt when I got back.

I wasn't aware I was a rabid anything. Hmmm. must get tested.

If I bite you does that mean you'd be a rabid something else?

Then again, I think someone posting a cryptic picture without explination, within a few hours after receving a public notice of warning; my conclusion was not totally without merit. In this case wrong, but not without merit.

Apparently a fairly logical conclusion to draw (based on admitedly circumstantial evidence) draws fire these days. Enough that Rafael had to comment not once but twice on exactly the same post of mine, to accuse me of defaming and character assassination. (and being rabid...strange I dont recall the last time I 'supported' Obama in a post. The last posts I made about Obama I suggested he didn't merit a nobel prize but hey, I guess that counts as Support in Rafael's book)

Nope, the comment was entirely because you accused a poster of doing something that turned out to be completely false and with no reason to believe so. Obviously you are the one who associated it with the thread about the Nobel Prize because you thought it had something to do with a warning issued there, which it clearly did not. That this association was necessarily true (in your mind) speaks to point I already made.

It was conjecture based on limited evidence, it wasn't a particularly offensive guess. I'm not sure I understand your response Rafael.

Ok, FWIW.

Let's consider what's being assumed here. The assumption was that someone got upset over a warning, enough to throw a tantrum (albeit a subtle one I am alleged) through posting some cryptic image in another board. Let that mill in your mind your a second. That would be an underhanded action and evidence of a petty character flaw. Regardless of who you are assuming that about, it's a pretty strong accusation in my mind. That's a pretty **** petty thing for someone to do (post a cryptic message as a reactionary tantrum). We're not talking about someone who is disputing the circumstances of his warning. We're talking about assuming someone's ego is so great, instead of being reasonable, posting the equivalent to a tantrum in a backhanded manner and breaking the rules again in doing so (could be considered "Ignoring Moderation: Any poster that deliberately ignores or disrespects a post made by a Moderator posting in that capacity will receive a warning or worse"). So regardless of who you are assuming this about, you better damned well have some pretty solid way to substantiate it.

Secondly, I don't know Ladas. I know him from Terris Thule, I know him from posting on every incarnation of the Glade since 2002ish back when Dave ran the interrealms board. So I can't say I know the guy. However, in the time I've read his remarks, I've yet to read anything that makes me believe his ego is so great that he'd resort to significantly petty actions (not saying he's perfect but you get the idea), let alone the one we are discussing here.

This isn't about Ladas. I do happen to like the guy, he comes off well enough and seems like a good dude. But this isn't about the person, it's about what was assumed about a person, one who quite frankly, I don't imagine him doing something that inept and petty except under extraordinary circumstances. Furthermore, I don't think anyone on this board is that petty or childish. And even if they did falter in the moment, I don't think that anyone is that stupid as to take such an inept action.

No, that wouldn't apply to you. You are the reactor, not the actor. The actor doing a childish or petty thing is posting a "tantrum". The alleged tantrum thrower would be Ladas.

Besides, even if that were the case, your action is clearly substantial. You assumed something. It's quite evident right above. But it's not the case, I don't thing that analog is valid.
