I need a quasi-casual game that I can just pick up, kill a bunch of stuff and put down. Don't wanna think, don't wanna plot, just mindless violence to destress.

Recommendations?

If you like driving games, Burnout Paradise can be a bunch of mindless fun.

Lego Star Wars is pretty easy, simple fun.. it follows the movie story line...

And its not so mindless, and can be a bit of a challenge, but I enjoyed the mass carnage of being a jedi clearing out room ater room of bad guys in Force Unleashed too. The boss fights can be annoying though....

You might also try some of the XBL Arcade demos to see if there is anything you like. Some of those games are classics.

Castle Crashers is awesome. I bought XBox solely for that game. First Microsoft product I've bought in 6 years.

Scott Pilgrim is slightly less awesome. Very good nostalgia and great references (I just recently unlocked the M. Bison head-stomp-jump with Scott).

Borderlands is pretty mindless killing with awesome weapons. You can do missions, or just grind away and get your diablo lootz fix.

I think my favorite weapon is still a sniper rifle with 4x fire. Snipe someone and they just burst aflame and run around, good family fun!

Borderlands is a blast, It has 2 player local co-op and 4 players over live. Its for PC/PS3 and 360

Game of the Year for Borderlands is coming out next month's, includes all the DLC's so far. There is a stupid number of weapons in the game I beleive its over 7 million weapons is what Gearbox boast's. Loot is alot like Diablo, completely random for the most part, its got much more to it than just mindlessly killing things, but that is a good aspect to it

Ive put alot of time into it, can do mindless killing get in the Rocket Launcher car, drive around the badlands and just blow the hell out of things, or do story arc's and laugh your *** off at some of the mission or the claptrops

Another one, I like for mindless killing is Team Fortress 2, never played the 360 version only PC, can usually grab it from Steam for $10, just a multiplayer FPS, servers are getting a little scarce however..Probably just because of the hours I play.

I don't have a problem with TF2 servers during US evenings. I strongly recommend, if TF2 interests you, picking it up for the PC over either console port.

Borderlands is good fun, though.

Not entirely sure whether they qualify for the quasi-casual stipulation. I think Borderlands satisfies that a bit better, as GoW's checkpoint system dictates when you can stop more strongly.

Thats good to know, I dont get home from work till 12am, usually on at like 2 am or later, figured just probably the hours I play :)

Dead rising is good zombie killing fun, the story can be nerve wracking at times and I want to smack whoever came up with the save system ( I have no attention span so maybe just me), but loading it up grabbing a lawnmower of doom and just plowing through zombies is grandiose fun!

I'll also plug Borderlands for what you're asking for. It really is mindless gameplay and you can pretty much quit at any time (though you'll have to make your way back through what you did).

And yeah, the Diablo loot thing makes it more addictive.

Borderlands is good as mentioned. But here's another that might be hard to find at this point but is awesomely bad:

Earth Defense Force 2017.

It's bad, but the entire game you're just running around gunning down giant ants, giant spiders, and various giant robots. It's basically a hack and slash game with guns in an over the shoulder 3rd person perspective. A great game for zoning out and just killing things.
