The Glade 4.0

I'm confident enough now in my Terran and Protoss to play Random on my ranking account. Last night, I ended up in a Protoss v. Protoss game where I was getting outplayed, but not quite enough to end it during the first 7 or 8 minutes. I was, however, almost resigned to losing because I'd been held to 2 Gate 1 Tech (StarGate) play on my main for so long. However, my small fleet of well microed Phoenixes kept the persistent 4 to 5 Void Ray harasses under control. So, I made a counter against his main with 12 Stalkers, 8 Phoenixes, 6 Rays, and 8 Chargelots and microed all back to my expansion to kill Void Rays. I was feeling pretty pinned in. So, I sent out some probes to scout hidden expansions, because I knew the guy had his Main, his Natural, and two other expansions, but couldn't figure out WHY he wasn't producing units fast enough. Operating on 6 bases, he had nearly 21,000 minerals invested in Photon Cannons. Once my Natural was finally secured, I dropped 2 More StarGates and 2 Robotics Facilities and pumped 6 Immortals and 4 Observers. And then I just slaughtered his main. He didn't even GG as he quit.

Busted into the top 20 for my ladder & faced an opponent who was favored & won easily. Forgot to check to see if he was silver though. /mutter

No silver player. A rank 8 atm in his ladder though. Don't know how. He did nothing but zerglings for the first 12 minutes of the game, which my two hellion's repeatedly micro'd them down.

That's 140 photon cannons! Holy ****!

140 Photons are astounding, but he had bad pylon placement and I had a truck load of Immortals.

Hah I ran into a photon cannon opponent in a 2v2. Not nearly 140 of them, but had to be 50 or so. In nice circles with 1 pylon per 20 or so of them, so 3 pylons and that was that. Kinda silly.

I'm still running into players who clearly dont know what they're doing.

I'm running into entirely too many who expect to block their door with a few buildings then have 15 straight minutes of uninterrupted tech-up time.. no units, not even defensive structures.. then they yell and scream for help when they get hit. And of course they ragequit when they get hit a second time and I'm still rebuilding from fending off 2 opponenet's worth of rush the first **** time.

Well not to jinx it but I'm on a bit of a roll after a bad streak. 12 straight wins and I'm feeling better about my PvT game. My PvZ needs some work. They always seem to go muta on me and I need to prepare for that. Chasing them with stalkers as they attack my probes is a PITA.

Anyone else here play Protoss? I'm wondering if I should invest in a few cannons around my mineral lines.

The match making boggles me. Now I am no expert at this game, but I'm starting to get the hang of things now that I'm 62 ranked 1v1 games in, more wins then losses.

So it puts me against a guy who is 0 & 8 life time. He told me this in the match, I assumed it was some one bluffing. But nope, he really was 0 & 8.

If most of your wins are from when you were favored, they don't exactly count for as much. The games that you win when you aren't favored are more heavily weighed by Blizzard's hidden point system. The public points aren't really any indication of where you really stand because Blizzard has created one of the worst ladder systems ever known to man.

I'm in no rush to get into the next league up, I was just curious about how it works. I seem to get matched up to as many silver as I do gold and not many Platinums.

Kinda insane. Though, it's not as impressive when you realize he just worker rushes. Sad that it seems to work out about 50%ish of the time.

I was playing on my practice account last night and pulled a Diamond opponent in Bronze. He also promptly got his *** kicked. Which makes me wonder ...

How the hell are you expecting to stop me with an 8 Roach Push if I've already got 3 Hatches, a Lair, your roaches are creeping over all slow like, and my Speedlings tore them apart?

Welp, done with StarCraft II ...

5 Consecutive Losses


Loss 1: 100 Zealots storm my base at 3:19 game time.
Loss 2: Terran storms my base with 10 Vikings and 20 Marauders at 4:27 game time.
Loss 3: Zerg Player Snipes my Expansion the second it lands on an island at 4:18 Game Time with an Overseer Drop.
Loss 4: Protoss Player Attacks my Base with 10 DTs. I have 2 Ravens, 10 Missile Turrets. Protoss Players DT's are never attackable or uncloak.
Loss 5: Protoss Player continues to fly Warp prisms over Turrets without triggering their attack.

The Hacks are in full force. Done with the game.

I hate playing against Zerg. I really need to work on my walling in as Protoss. I just suck at it and try to get away with just blocking with zealots.

It's really just that initial early rush. Speedlings or roaches barreling in early throw me off. What I should be doing is walling off with a small space that my one zealot can block off by himself, but I just hate having my structures in that configuration. Which is a pretty lame excuse =p

I suppose I could just practice what the wall off should look like on each map against the AI.

Stupid Zerg.

What was the story again with getting into higher leagues? I'm in the top 10 now of my division and I'm wondering if they're going to promote me.

Your rank and points mean absolutely nothing when determining your promotion. There are hidden stats that determine your promotions. As long as you are beating people your own rank and higher and not losing to silver and bronze players, you should get promoted. No one really knows exactly how it works, though.

I'm pulling away from my win one, lose won ratio. Currently I've pulled myself up to 13th in my ladder, with 40 wins & 31 losses. It's not great, but better then I'd of thought I'd be capable of.
