Really I've only been playing FF3 right now. There's some sound distortion here and there, but nothing terrible. It plays flawlessly though. Even doing Sabin's blitzes on the virtual control pad works great. Matter of fact, I bought the full version.

The only game I've tried for my GBA emulator on my phone have been FF1/2, Pokemon, Zelda Link to the Past, and Fire Emblem. I don't think the touchscreen interface works well with action type games, but for RPG style games it seems to be fine.

If you have an HTC phone then widgets --> settings --> Wi-Fi adds a Wi-Fi toggle switch.

There are a bunch of widgets in the Marketplace that will toggle WiFi, Bluetooth, etc...

The "Beautiful" series of widgets have been well supported across many platforms, and might be worth a look. Just keep an eye on battery life with these types of widgets installed. They tend to be battery life killers.

The Galaxy S/Vibrant has a small menu across the top of the taskbar pull down screen that allows toggling WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS, etc... it serves my needs well, so I never re-installed Beautiful on this phone.

Now if I could just fine a way to change the 4 icons on the bottom (fixed part) of the desktop screens, I'd be quite happy. Dialer, Contacts, Messaging and Applications are permanent fixtures at the bottom of all 7 of my desktops. It's fairly annoying. I'd like to remove them, or at least change 3 of them to something useful.

Sadly I think outside rooting the phone and flashing a custom ROM you're pretty much stuck with those, it's one of the reasons I went with the EVO over waiting for the Samsung epic which is just the Vibrant on Sprint with a physical keyboard, love real keyboards but hate Samsung's Touchwiz interface.

Aren't there different home screen apps you can use for that for your phone? I used Helix Launcher up until 3 weeks ago and it worked great.

- I use "Tip Calc" all the time. One of many calculators for adding a tip at a restaurant. But I like this one as it has a lot of functionality (rounded tips, split up the bill multiple ways, etc.).

- Shapewriter. Though I am not sure you can get this anymore. "Slide-It" and "Swype" are pretty much the equivalent, as far as I know.

- Setting Profiles. Same thing as Tasker and Locale, but I like this one. It's constantly having features added and it's super cheap. By far the best app on my phone and turned it into a truly "smart phone."

- Mixzing. I am digging this music app. It has an equalizer (something sorely missing from other music apps). It has a lock-screen player. It will also figure out songs to play based on your mood by looking at your song library. It also downloads album art.

-Tunewiki. Lots of shoutcast and last.fm players out there, this just happens to be one I use. If you've never used shoutcast, then you are very much missing out on one of the best free internet radio sites out there. Literally thousands of stations to listen to.

I believe it's an integrated part of their custom UI like the curved thing at the bottom of the HTC phones and not a widget so you're just stuck with it, Samsung for some reason things that people who want android not an iPhone still want the UI to look like an iPhone.

It's a shame google doesn't just embrace custom UI's and add a proper way for manufactures to add their UI on top of android, and give the consumers the ability to turn off the custom UI like you can with windows mobile to go back to the stock android interface.

WiFiFoFum -- fantastic wireless sniffer
MusicSleep -- if you're like me and like background noise to fall asleep to; fantastic compatibility list and well upkept to keep that expanding
I'll second Handcent (thanks for the recommendation, Midgen)
Make sure you've got a barcode app, very useful

I'm not sure whether I'm sold on DoubleTwist or not. Its player seems a bit more resource intensive than HTC's, but I like the idea of giving me easy management tools for syncing; that's definitely iTunes did well and my iPhone spoiled me there. The PC program is slow on the import, but whatever. I'm using it for now, and hoping they trim things down and speed them up a bit. It's good notion.

I hear that, but HelixLauncher has a completely different app drawer than the stock Moto Droid UI. It replaces the drag button with a much smaller button and places 4 mini shortcut slots next to it. Stock Droid (at least 2/0/2.1 anyway, I never used stock 2.2) had no such slots for shortcuts.

Oh, cool, I didn't know anything could change that outside of rooting & flash.

Samsung Moment will not have Android 2.2 or Live wallpapers or pinch to zoom.

Bummer...

I love my Galaxy S/Vibrant, but my one big gripe with Samsung is their (lack of) post sales product development/Support.

That must mean it has Android 2.0 because live wallpapers were part of the 2.1 update. I thought pinch to zoom was too but I'm probably thinking about Dolphin.

So basically what you're saying is Samsung sucks. Gotcha.

I do not know if it is Samsung... or Samsung with Sprint. A Coworker has the Samsung Vibrant on T Mobile and he has already been told that 2.2 will be available to him Sept to Oct. And he has pinch to zoom and Live Wallpaper.

Angry Birds just appeared on the Android Market as "Angry Birds Lite Beta". Not all phones are showing it, so here's a website where you can download the apk and install it manually.
