When did the board stop copying formatting in quotes?

Case in point: here. Elmo puts italicized emphasis on "am," but when quoted, the italics disappear.

Did the board not used to do this, or is its ability to do so apocryphal in my own mind?

In the preceding quote, the bbcode was preserved when using the "quote" button.

Off the top of my head, I'd imagine it's theme related.

Hmm. You didn't insert a URL into the tag, so I can't look.

I've seen plenty of people damage BBCode, particularly when chopping them up into multiple pieces to counter point by point. From chopping off half of a quote tag in nested quotes, to snipping a bracket...

Yeah, I'm also pretty sure that this is affected by the CSS in your theme.

In my current theme (Polyethylene) all quoted text is italicized, so it ignores italics. Bold/not-bold still works, though.

On the subject, is the link underlining fix going to be pushed out to this theme? Or at least some higher color contrast on the links?

I don't see any bbcode tags in Elmo's post.

Maybe I'm just losing it. I've been doing what amount to data entry all day, and my eyes may have just been playing tricks on me. I could have sworn I've seen it happen before, though. Oh well.

Glad I read this thread before posting my complaint, then. Getting sick of manually adding the underline tags to my links; looking forward to a fix.
