One proud Navy mom reporting:

Great Lake Naval Station. Jake graduated from boot camp on October 9th. I am so glad I was able to share the experience. The whole thing was quite impressive. He had so many stories.

He goes to Pensacola for air crew training then to Japan for two years.

Go Jake!

Eternal Father strong to save
Whose arm has bound the restless wave
Who bids the mighty ocean deep
It's own appointed limits keep
O hear us when we cry to Thee
For those in Peril on the sea

Oh Christ whose voice the waters heard
And hushed their raging at Thy word
Who walkest on the foamy deep
And how amidst the storm did sleep
O hear us when we cry to Thee
For those in Peril on the sea

O Spirit, whom the Father sent
To spread abroad the firmament.
Oh wind of heaven, by Thy might
Save all who dare the eagle's flight.
And keep them by thy watchful care
From every peril in the air

Fair winds and following seas; that's the one I was mentally searching for. Thanks!

That's beautiful and going on my prayer board. Thanks DE!

For me nothing will compare to the experience of hearing the Naval Academy Glee Club singing it in the chapel.

No problem :)

We sang it just about every weekend using various verses. There are at least 19 that I know of, but the original 3 all refer to the sea, and the first added verse was for airmen (the thrid verse I quoted). I thought these would be appropriate for a naval airmen. The other verses cover everything, all the services, astronauts, sub-units like Seabees, even dependants.
