This is the best ending. The hero has to die for it to be a good story.

Alistair was crowned, married the annoying princess chick and ran off to pout like a little baby after I wouldn't let him kill Loghain (so that I could make him deal the final blow to the archdemon) in all but one of my playthroughs. In the one I didn't sacrifice Loghain I made Alistair sleep with Morrigan.

Near as I can tell from Witch Hunt, Morrigan's child-god-thing is going to be needed to save the whole damn world. It really seems to me that Morrigan is working for the good side here.

Never was. According to Morrigan, anyway. Archdemons were Old Gods that had been corrupted, their souls tainted. In joining with an unborn human, the child's soul would cleanse the taint of the archdemon from the old god's soul.

Maybe, but I'm not sure it was their true intention. They contacted the magisters and taught them magic, and convinced them to try and free them from their underground prison. This is why the magisters entered the Golden City, which resulted in the First Blight, at least according to the Chantry's teachings.

Whether that's what they wanted all along, or if the taint was just an accident, remains to be seen.

Is it wrong for me to get excited about the fact that the Lore/Backstory from a game can produce these types of engaging discussions? I absolutely love the lore/setting/everything about the Dragon Age universe, and I'm ecstatic that we can have a debate on the various religious teachings/beliefs that occur as a backdrop to a video game. I really think it's a testament to Bioware's story-telling abilities.

I love listening to Morrigan and Leliana argue religion when in my party together.
