I'll just say I'm a pretty big Star Wars fan and leave it at that. I have never had much pleasure with Star Wars games however. I found KOTOR on Steam for 2.50. Hopefully I'll like it as much as everyone says I should!

I didn't play the first one, but played KOTOR2 a bit.

Very solid game, and if you're at all a SW fan, you should have a good time.

If you can make it run (I haven't been able to get it to run under Win7 - 64 bit), you should have fun.

PLAY IT PLAY IT NOW.

Much <3, and I don't generally get into Star Wars EU stuff. Better than the prequel trilogy of films. Probably better than the original films, to be honest.

KOTOR > KOTOR2, but they are both really good. KOTOR2 could have been so much more, if they would have been allowed to finish it. Instead, it got rushed out the door and the game suffered because of it.

I hope you can get it to run, and I hope you enjoy it. A friend of mine tried the first one, but never finished because he wasn't a fan of the gameplay. I keep trying to get him to grind his way through it, because the story really is worth it. Probably the best SW game I've ever played, and I've played a lot of them.

KOTOR was awesome, I played it back in the day. Didn't make it all the way through KOTOR2 though, was on the xbox so I couldn't mod it (I heard there were some mods that helped the game out immensely post-release).

I did break down and get the Force Unleashed for 7.50 on the Monday deal. Rented it on 360 and played through, fun enough game to spend 7 bucks on it. Looks like a straight port though, almost no PC-centric settings other than resolution. As long as you have a 360 controller for your PC it seems ok.

Actually, KotOR was pretty much the original trilogy set in the Old Republic era. That's why it was so well-received.

Yes, and HK-47 > C3PO. ;)

Biggest things I can advise you that will help with your enjoyment of the game, but will contain what some might call "spoilers".... but seriously... if you don't want to go "AW *** DAMN IT!" later, you should at least read them.

Spoiler:
1. You are forced to dual-class into a Jedi. Period.
2. Because of #1, don't waste any skills and feats on ranged weapons and the like. Focus on skills/feats that you will use when you become a Jedi.
3. Don't level up your non-Jedi class too much. There is a level cap in the game, and if you level up your non Jedi class, you will waste levels that could have been your Jedi class.

It makes sense from a story standpoint why you become a Jedi, but if you start out the game thinking "I am going to make a Boba Fett!" or "I am gonna make a Han Solo!" you are setting yourself up for disappointment. If you get over the fact that you are forced to be a Jedi, it's a fun game.

I picked this game up today as well. It's impossible for me to pass up on it for only $2.50. I already played it, but to have it back in my library for that little price, it's worth it.

Damn. Sad I missed Force Unleashed for $7.50.. Wouldn't have minded having it for the PC.

I heard that TFU was not so hot for the PC. I was going to wait and get it for the 360.

I've tried so many damn tricks to get KOTOR to work on my Windows 7 machine, but it just doesn't seem to be in the cards. Hopefully you either don't run into the problem, or you have XP installed.

It's pretty much TFU for the 360, running on PC. Straight-up port. I haven't had any of the stuttering issues/etc that some people were reporting, but my machine is pretty mega. For 50 bucks I would've been disappointed, for 7 bucks it's fine. :)

Also, there are 3 new levels (which makes it the Ultimate Sith Edition, apparently), the hoth level was pretty awesome, and
Spoiler:
You get to beat down whiny Skywalker. Not exactly canon, but fun and hilarious.

I was able to load the game through Steam and it seems to work so far on my 7/64 machine.

I was kind of holding out to get TFU on my 360 because I don't have very many games for it and really wanted to play on the big screen =)

Maybe I can swing a big monitor for my desk .. hmm

HDMI cables are cheap, and can be pretty long.

I supposed I could run a VGA cable from my computer out to my family room TV. Then I'd have to deal with a controller that would reach. And I need a VGA splitter as I've already got two monitors. Hmm

No need for a controller that "could reach" -- Microsoft makes a USB receiver for wireless 360 devices. ~$30, IIRC. Use your wireless 360 controller.

I think I started playing KotOR 3 times and never got off the first planet each time. :( I still intend to get back into it some day (like many, I've had troubles getting it to run) but.. I don't know.. just not clicking.

My biggest problem with it was that I could not run it in windowed mode. If I wanted to talk with someone on IM, I couldn't play it. I spend pretty much 0 time on the computer not on AIM which makes it awkward. I wonder if there have been any compatibility changes since the last time I started playing it (which I think was vaguely when Vista was new? took a lot of effort to get it to work and I'd still get crashes every hour or two) which allow for windowed mode?

Some day, some day...

I loved the original KOTOR. I got such a rush from the way I ended the game, too. And it can be like the original trilogy if you play it that way, but you don't have to. Let's just say that I didn't. I was more than pleased with my version of events.
