MS just released IE9 open beta yesterday, loaded it this morning. So far, it's MUCH better than any previous IE. Quite a bit snappier, better handling of extensions, faster across the board.

For the love of God please make your family members install this.

This is the first good version of IE. Ever.

Lenas,

Huh, it wont install on XP, which our corporate desktops are still using.

Guess I'm stuck using IE8 for corporate intranet stuff, and Chrome for everything else.

I'll definitely install this at home though....

Intentional lack of XP support, MS is trying to phase it out.

Yup, not really complaining, at least about Microsoft. I do wish they'd get our corporate desktops on to Win 7 fairly soon though. I may regret asking for it later, but Im ready for an update.

I want to... I really really do... But I am not sure if it is such a hot idea when I am trying to take classes.

Maybe I could do my classes in Safari if IE bugs out...

I'm downloading, but a bit worried. I really tend to prefer IE8 to other browsers (though I do frequently use Chrome, I much prefer IE8's interface, and I have no need for extensions, so they don't really matter.)

okay, so how do i add the menubar permanently again?

Edit: Found it. Group Policy editor can fix it. Of course, it still puts it in the wrong spot (below the address bar.)

Uninstalling now. Of course, it's just a beta, but it has more rendering problems at present than IE6 would have.

It took me 20 seconds to uninstall this. I got the weird neverending error dialogue box problem that seems to be going around.

What plug-ins do you all recommend for this?

For those who uninstalled, did it automatically roll back to the previous version of IE?

Was that process seamless, and successful?

Liking it so far. Seems smooth and clean -- something previous IE versions were definietly not.

Yeah, I'm encountering some Java errors myself.

As ubiquitous as that script is, however, I'm sure MS will fix it soon.

EDIT: Actually now that I think about it, it may be the HTML coding. Tried to post on a website earlier that used HTML by default in their replies and couldn't click on the actual text-entry field.

it has trouble with wiki-pages, in general.

And yes, the uninstall was seemless.
