I'm not sure of the engineering potential of such a feat. But I suppose... 19.3 seconds and 145 meters doesn't sound like much, but Orville and Wilbur would have been elated by such results.

Did they cheat by towing it up with a truck? :p

Also, I'm trying to think of a practical application (didn't read the acompanying text, just watched the video)...

Yes, they cheated, it didn't have any method of ground propulsion (would have made it weigh too much.) However, they apparently have the telemetry to prove (and the experts back it up) that once aloft, it was moving and flying under its own propulsion. It was not a glide.
