Dear Fry's Camera Lady,
My wife and I appreciate your help with choosing that Samsung TL350.
When we told you that we wanted it, with my two SDHC 8 GB card options in hand, and you bent down and unlocked the drawer and told me one was on sale, that was good information, and we couldn't have unlocked that drawer without you.
When we turned down a camera bag, I am sure we took money from your pocket, but since camera bags are like sales people - of debatable merit and easily found or replaced - we didn't want to choose the wrong one.
When you offered us the coverage plan, and I asked what it covered, and you said everything, and my wife said, 'including physical and liquid damage?' and you said, 'Yes', of course we agreed to give you more money. We're taking this to Thailand. Who knows what an elephant's dung will do to this fine camera? Who would want to find out?
However, when I asked for a packet of information, after you gave us a ticket and began to walk our camera to the registers, and you assured us that they'd give us that with our receipt, it was very comforting.
Especially when we got that packet, saw you were a liar, and turned around to cancel the purchase of that plan.
Did you still get commission on it? Did the 'attach-rate' or something get boosted for us having it for the 5 minutes it took?
Did the people who told us 'Yeah, no, it doesn't cover that...' when we told them you told us it DOES while returning it care?
Did they follow-up to make sure less savvy folks are not bilked of their rupals?
After all, you worked hard to make sure to take credit for the sale, so it's not like your name was on the receipt in two or more places... I am sure they had to work hard to discover who sold us a camera and lied to us less than 15 minutes earlier.
* P.S. - We parked next to a car with 'Squirrel Lady' license plate ornamentation. Does SquirrelGirl's mom live in CA, or did retiring from the GLA mean she had to give up the girl title? *
