I'll be buying episodes 1-3. I don't think the others will translate well.

I think that's the first time those words have ever been uttered in relation to Star Wars. Like, ever.

Ugh, All I really want is a blue ray copy of the original 3 that contains both the original theatrical release (with updated sound and widescreen), and the special releases. I might even buy the new 3 as well to have the set.

You gullible fool! Nowhere did Lucas say he would *release them to a consumer format* in 3-D!

All sarcasm and ribbing aside, I'll probably see the first 4 in the theater. I never had a problem with the prequels except for Jar-Jar and the inanity of the kid in Phantom Menace. But they're not enough to ruin awesome Obi-Wan Kenobi stories for me. And given how much was CG in the prequels to begin with, I imagine the conversion should look more than competent.

The OT is another matter, though. Again, I'll probably watch A New Hope and judge from there. I fully expect A New Hope to result in Greedo not only shooting first, but *INTO THE THEATER!*, but frankly, I just don't care. Part of me says that the most thrilling parts of ANH, at least, will end up looking pretty good in 3-D, as bunches of the climactic space fight were rendered in CG in the Special Edition anyways.

At least 1-3 have some cool **** to look at. I don't even like the Star Wars story that much, anyway. Yeah. I SAID IT.

Yknow, I don't even take issue with that...they're excellent movies to me, for the most part, but I've never been a huge *fan* (I've always preferred Lucas' *other* trilogy). But to suggest that anything but *maybe* Episode III is even *watchable* is...well, it's lunacy, is what it is!

Yeah. Sad.

That said, the Clone Wars cgi cartoon runs the gamut from mediocre to freakin' amazing. It's too bad they didn't get Matt Lanter instead of Hayden Christiansen for the prequel movies. (That said, he still wouldn't have ovecome Lucas's god-awful dialogue the way Ewan MacGregor did.)

Well, if nothing else, the lightsaber battles were superior in the prequels than they were in the original trilogy. Not that the Luke/Vader duel in Return of the Jedi was bad or anything...it just can't hold a candle to any of the lightsaber duels in the prequels.

Unfortunately, at this point, we will have to wait until Lucas dies and his children release the original cuts of the film in the quest for more money.

Seeing as a disagree with 3D on principal (It's a gimmick to keep Movie Houses as the first run of distribution when it is no longer desired or feasible), I probably wont go.

I also find 3D gimmicky (and rarely does it offer anything new or better to the movie watching experience.) That said, I still believe the movie theater is the only real way to watch a movie. Even a big 50+ inch LCD panel doesn't compare. Everything other than seeing it in the theater is just watching television.

I think I'd be happier with Adywan's Starwars Revisited on blu-ray. Guy has some major chops.

ESB and RotJ will be determined by my assessment of the quality of the conversion of ANH. If it turns out well, I'll continue to go. If it looks lousy, I won't.

Meh. While I like the concept of what he did, he did remove some of the few good things Lucas did do with the special editions, as well.

Not everything needs to be seen on the big screen, IMO. While movies with big scenery and/or intense action beg for it, some movies just don't get better when they get bigger. I can watch Julie & Julia just fine without having Meryl Streep blown up to IMAX-screen proportions.

And why does it have to take six months or more to get to the home viewable format, other than to force people to go to the theater.

For most movies I'd just rather cook a nice meal and sit down with a Red Box (or better yet Wii watch instantly) for the price

I agree with this. Although, if the visuals aren't all that important, i tend not to think of it as a movie, either. :)
