Congrats on winning the most interesting race in the game this season, Braves fans.

Please do well against SF, Braves! They are a potentially scary team!

Good to see Bobby Cox get one last postseason in. I just hope for Philadelphia's sake it's not too good... ;) Anything can happen now that elimination is only an off night or two away.

Wow, just an unbelievable collapse by the Padres, really. Amazing that no one (read: Dodgers) could take advantage of that.

I'm happy for Bobby, even though I've never liked the Braves since their string of success in the 90s. Just got tired of seeing them.

Can't root for the Reds (a childhood thing) or the Giants (their fans are the worst!); so I'm sort of left with the Phillies. Despite them having beaten the Dodgers two years in a row in the NLCS, I actually do like them, many of their players.

So long as it's Braves-Phillies, I guess,I'll be OK with how it all shook out.

I'll be rooting for the Braves all the way. I'm indifferent to this generation of Giants (post Barry), don't really care for this generation of Reds, and absolutely HATE the Phillies (actually, hate Philadelphia teams in general).

The Braves should have beaten the Phillies in the NL East, because ... honestly ... who the **** loses only 2 games in September (and only 4 games since August 13)? Who? That was just insane.

See!

Well, I really should have said, "Present company excepted, of course." :D

Rynar:

Did you watch this season? The Phillies were "maybe" Wild Card contenders until mid August.

It had to do with personnel. Chase Utley got healthy, and Roy Oswalt was acquired from the Astros at around the same time, and was the catalyst their meteoric rise. When you replace your worst pitcher with a true 1A type ace to complement Halladay and take some pressure off Hammels, and take the weakest slot in your batting order and replace it with a legitimate 3 slot super star, you are going to win quite a few games and jump up in the standings. But more to the point, Philledelphia lost more than two games in September.

I agree with everything you said, Rynar, but I think Khross was more or less saying that the Phillies still shouldn't have played like they did in September. I will agree with him on that.

I predicted they wouldn't even make the postseason something like 2 months ago, here on the Glade. I mentioned that they should have a great September the way injuries were lining up to end (and how they're historically a great September team, for whatever that is worth), but that it wouldn't be enough. They were just too far back. Then they went and played over their heads for so long. Kinda unbelievable. They're a great team, perhaps the best in MLB now in the postseason format with their starting 3 and definitely the best in the NL, but no team should expect to get the numbers they had in September.

Let's hope it continues! :p We're definitely off to the right start tonight with Halladay's start... :p The postseason is always a scary time where anything can happen to any team, but it definitely took a lot of edge off to get this first win, especially in the shorter Division Series.
