The Patriots offense is marginally weaker. Randy Moss hadn't been doing much of anything in his first 4 weeks of this season. He was causing too many problems. When that happens, Belichick's MO is to get rid of you. I'm not happy about losing Moss, but I'm not disappointed either. I think the Patriots are still a playoff team. I just wish Belichick got more in return for him. A first or second round draft pick or a lower draft pick and a player in return. On the flip side, I have Wes Welker on my fantasy team and he just became that much stronger, after the bye.

Not really. Now instead of double covering Moss so Welker can have a go, now Welker'll be double covered and never get a ball. ;)

Yeah, I'm not sure I'm thrilled about having Wes Welker anymore. He's going to be double covered quite a bit.

I honestly think the Patriots made a terrible move doing this. He's still one of the best WR's in the league, and you gave him up after four games for a 3rd round pick next year? Giving up *ANY* number one receiver position in the league, regardless of who it is, is a bad idea at week 5, when only getting a 3rd rounder in return. They have to go 12 games now without a true number one receiver, all just to get a 3rd rounder? I'm not saying Moss is worth much more than a 3rd rounder, considering he's going to be rapidly declining very soon, but it's still a bad move. It's a great band-aid for the Vikings, though.

Double coverage won't really matter for a guy with Welker's skill set. He doesn't stretch the field; he works the seams of defenses and has superior abilities to beat press coverage with his strength and quickness. By the time saftey help arrives over the top, Welker already has the ball, and has carried it 4 yards to ensure a 10 yard gain. And even if the opposition is doubling with a saftey, with the advent of New Englands "Age of the Tight End," teams don't have the luxury of being able to shift over and run a balanced set with a cheating saftey. If they do Gronkowski, Hernandez and Crumpler (who have worked out of 3 TE passing sets this season will eat them alive, because none of those men can be covered by a linebacker. Don't worry about the production of Welker. He's going to be a 12/110/1 guy this year.

It is a contract year for Moss and with a lockout looming next year do you really want to tie up 9M/yr to hang on to him? I think more than anything this signals that Kraft believes there won't be a season next year.

Precisely. I dare teams to double cover Welker. He'll still get his 10 catches per game, but then they're just going to stretch the field with Tate and the tight ends. By the way, Moss wasn't getting doubled nearly as often as you might think due to the tight ends commanding as much respect as they have. This offense will be fine. Benjarvus Green-Ellis is also coming into his own and finally being what Maroney was promised to be for Patriot fans. I'm pretty excited about this team.

It's odd to see the Packers lose and Lions win in a week of NFL football. I was quite pleased to see this.

49ers 0-5

Will Singletary still be employed by the end of the week?

Gratz Philly, but we lost it more than you won it. You did play decently though.

I feel ya. I had an *awful* week.

I need the Jets D to put up 16 points for me.

I don't think that'll happen.

At least the 49ers owner is in denial. This may help Singletary's chances of keeping his job.

He doesn't believe a word of what he's saying. He just needs fans to keep going to the games.

Damnit Favre! Throw some picks or get sacked more or something. You're not helping my fantasy team at all. I need 5 more points ffs.

Holy crap, I need a few bye weeks for my team to heal up. Steven Jackson, Aaron Rodgers, Calvin Johnson and Arian Foster, all dinged to ****.

Also, I already feel like I've started scraping the bottom of the barrel in the eliminator. Time to get strategic I guess?

Yeah, I'm not much better off. I barely squeaked out that tie.

My choice this week: Play the Jets D without Revis or play the Seahawks D against Chicago.

If we were starting Collins, it'd be probably the best defense to start against the Bears (Your Seahawks D). Cutler is back though...just saying. The Jets D looked very strong against Minnesota until Farve started to come alive a bit in the second half.
