Given the choice, would you prefer to work 3, 4 or 5 days a week on the days and times shown. Right now I work the 4 day week. We're either going to 3 or 5.

7a-5p is a 10 hour day? Do you not get any breaks or lunch?

That said, I'd love to do four tens. It wouldn't work out with my current job though.

I've worked versions of all those shifts, and I've always been happiest with the five day work week. Short work weeks leve me too much time to spend money and get in trouble.

I fear retirement for that reason alone.

The internet solved this problem. I spend far more on work days than on days off.

Yeah we got lucky and sort of grandfathered into it. It was a perk when we were with a new, small company but stuck with us after the 2 acquisitions.

I'd prefer the 4, but would take 3 over 5.

My question is who the heck starts their work week on a Sunday? since that's what all the poll options show.

Between those 3 options I chose the four 10 hour days, though I prefer my current company's work schedule which is a 9/80 schedule, 9 hours Monday thru Thursday, and alternating 8 hour Friday one week and the next Friday off.

See, while the long days part is true, the problem of my weekends being too short is harder to deal with.

I'd probably do 4 10 hours if I had the choice, but I haven't ever actually worked all these schedules to compare to.

This may be a bit paradoxical, but it works out this way all the same: I generally don't mind being at work/school/etc once I'm there, but hate it when I'm going or getting ready to go.

3 day work weeks would probably take things too far in the other direction, though, making work days stick out more or something. More of a "see you in 3 days, free time" kinda thing than being able to still make use of those days. Plus I'd never feel like going back that next Monday or whatever day it is. :p

5-6 1/2 days a week, 12ish hours per is ideal.

Panama shift. Why is it called that I don't know, but it's awesome. I also prefer a swing shift, because I hate getting up in the morning. Working night shifts make me miserable though, cause I can never adjust and the last three hours feels like hell and takes an eternity.

10 hours + a lunch is too much for me, that's all I know. The first day or two of the week is almost tolerable, but by the middle of the 3rd day...

I'm also not a real fan of long weekends on a regular schedule. Rarely does the rest of your social life have that extra day off, so it doesn't really get used very well, and it also gets sucked up by doing all the errands and chores you don't have time after a long working day to do.

Now, I'd love to see someplace where my 8 hours started at 10 or so.

I work 4 10's right now, it's the best thing ever. You know how you look forward to your couple 3 day weekends a year? I get those every week, and it's amazing. I have enough days off that when the weekends done I almost always feel ready to get back to work, which almost never happened for me doing 5 8's.

It's also enough time to do some real trips over the weekends, instead of quick getaways. Did a couple 700 mile trips this summer on my weekends, visited 15 national parks. There's tons of awesome stuff out there, and three day weekends facilitate getting out and enjoying it much better than 2.

I would love 4 x10s. I would be able ot load up on another class or two if I had that schedule.

Of the 3 choices, the 4x10 is the best IMO. However unless I'm working some job (which I do) that has to be manned 24-7 by someone, that selection of weekdays blows.
