and on a bill that is veto-proof.

Civil immunity and destruction of the "duty to retreat" bs here comes PA!

Meh, Elmarnieh is celebrating his death warrant. Should he be in his home when it is broken into he gets to kill the bastards, be civilly immune and not have to suffer from the need to retreat to protect his rights and freedom during something as egregious as a burglary or home invasion.

Any burglar doing his homework will now be packing heavy and shoot first in self defense as soon as a homeowner/resident shows his face. He'll get a longer sentence if caught, but hey, he will be alive to serve it.

Of course, most criminals are stupid. Elmarnieh might get a couple before one of them gets him.

If you ignore the fact that it flies in the face of empirical evidence, that screed gives a telling look into the psyche of one who would happily give up his rights for the illusion of safety.

Where'd you get that idea from? That's not what happened in any of the other Castle Doctrine states...

Did I miss the post where someone actually broke into Elmo's house at some time?

The big part of the bill grants civil immunity to those using legal force.

People have lost their homes because they defended their family from an armed criminal with a long and violent record.

Remember civil suits don't need the whole jury to agree and a sobbing mother showing pictures of the kid in his sunday best in a bright court room is a high degree of contrast of him in a ski mask in your house in the middle of the night.

I fight for other people more than myself Michael. The chances are slim (thankfully) that I would ever need to shoot someone breaking in, the chances are high that other innocent people in the state will.

Your screed is appreciated however as it shows your implicit bias and will be considered by all readers in all future statements by you.

And Michael its been legal for decades in Pa to use deadly force against any intruder in your home.

That's better.

I was trying to provoke a more complete explanation from you. Your cryptic posts occasionally annoy me.

It worked, though I still wish you would reveal the bill and what you are celebrating in this case, or what the hell you are talking about in most of these childish "I know something you don't" posts.

I hardly make any posts in general. None of them are "I know something you don't" posts even if that is how you decide to view them. They are expressions of my mood, excitement, relief in a snapshot - just like my music posts.

You could have simply asked if you wanted an explanation and you're quite aware of your ability to do so without being inflammatory.

I like the idea in theory. Since you mentioned legal force would this apply to law enforcement officers too.

I am generally against people being able to sue in cases where a criminal investigation has found no fault.

Now if there is case where it's found out that the homeowner/LEO acted outside the realm of the law, then let the civil hammer fly.

Police officers in the course of their duty have their own special set of legal protections (they got too far in my opinion).

Elmo, are you familiar with the Wilson/ Chavalia shooting over here in West Ohio? The Department's insurance company decided to settle with the family even though the officer couldn't be convicted on any charges. And it's not like they went for Murder one either they had fairy mild charges set against him. It feels too much like double jeopardy with the verdict detractors feeling the settlement "proves" he did something wrong.

This isn't twitter. It's a forum. Some of us have an expectation of content at least in the OP. I never expect it from you, and I don't know why he would either, but that's just how it goes.
