Personally I am looking forward to the changes. Most of my satisfaction and enjoyment comes from learning a new spec, class, or rotation and pushing it as far as I can possibly take it.

I played around briefly on the PTR with my warrior's prot spec. Seemed pretty solid, although a different rotation and feel.

Here is what I posted on my guild forums about my Warrior.

Well I got Crazyhoof respec'd yesterday. I'm staying Fury as my OS for the time being, as Arms is gimped until lvl 81 and I can get Colossus Smash. The Prot spec seems fairly strong overall, but there are some definate changes to the feel of play as well as how quickly threat appears to ramp up.

One of the largest changes for me is Heroic Strike and Cleave no longer being on next attack skills. I had both of those macroed to various abilities for either enhanced single target threat or aoe threat. Because I now have to blow a GCD on them, they aren't getting used as much and I'm having to learn some new muscle memory as to where the buttons are in the first place. I *think* when it's all said and done, it will be a positive change, but the jury is still out.

On the aoe front, there are a number of new toys there that I think will make warrior aoe threat pretty nice, but they take a little time to ramp up. The first is Blood and Thunder which applies Rend to all targets of Thunder Clap if your target has Rend applied. It also refreshes that Rend on each subsequent application. The second is Thunderstruck, which gives me a bonus 10% damage to the next Shockwave, stacking 3 times, for each Thunder Clap. The problem is that it takes a little time for that to get rolling. Similarly Vengeance, which is our dps boost for threat, also stacks so takes a little to get it ramped up.

I ran a random to test things out, and there was a shadow priest that was continually pulling off me. So it seems it's definately going to be some learning for DPS to balance their threat some. Should be interesting.

I did end up losing close to 5k worth of armor in the transition, which I'm a little worried about. Health seems about 2-3k higher. I also have a number of self healing, and bonus to healing abilities that are new, so I'm hopnig that mitigates the armor loss. I certainly didn't have any concerns tanking the heroic, but it will be interesting to see how it pans out for ICC.

Overall I'm cautiously optimisitic about the new specs, and I'm very much looking forward to giving Arms a try again once Cata comes out. My Collectors Edition is already pre-ordered.

We're 12/12 10 Heroic, 11/12 25 Heroic ...

We walked into 10 Normal on Alts (all in 264/277 Gear) and Marrowgar ate our lunches. It wasn't even close. He one shot our DK Tank.

On the Hunter/Enhancement Shaman end, things are just laughable. Physical DPS Main had Intelligence and Attack Power removed. However, Agility wasn't altered to compensate. Hunter shots are hitting for 30-40% of their previous damage tops, with the one notable exception being Arcane Shot which remains vastly unchanged IF you Glyph it. That said, Recount says we're doing comparable damage in Beast Mastery and Marksmanship, but the new resource Mechanic is a joke.

Well, the Resource Change (Focus) for Hunters was "ostensibly" (as in that's what Blizzard said) to increase the dynamism of our game play. MM generates way too much Focus and has very little space for Focus Dumps because of Improved Steady Shot. Beast Mastery is a little cleaner and stays in the 15-20 average focus range. Survival is totally non viable, especially since Arcane Shot deals more damage than Explosive Shot.

I am not so sure my rogue as much damage as before either. I know a lot of spellcasters got a huge boost (possibly too huge).

I will say that I am enjoying more haste than I've ever had, which is nice (over 30% unbuffed/unmodified). I guess we'll see how things go in icc.

Frost Death Knights, Unholy Death Knights, and Enhancement Shaman do ok. Feral Druids do more DPS in Bear Form. Rogues got slaughtered. Warriors got decimated. Retribution laughable. Our Arcane Mages, on the other hand, are doing 35k DPS.

Made a couple tweaks to my Prot Warrior spec, and I'm now pretty content. Overall seems pretty strong and I like most all of the changes.

Absolutely love my Bear tank now, so much more fun to play.

Fury Warrior spec sucks ***. Went from doing 11-12k to doing 4.5k. Bleh. I suspect that much of that is not having access to Colossus Smash yet. Gonna try some reforging as well to see if that helps out. There's already a post from Ghostwalker stating that Arms, Fury, Feral DPS and Ret will getting a buff.

Rogues seem a little less on dps, but not as bad as Paly/Warrior dps.

Did they finally make 2H Frost viable again? I loved 2h Frost, and /cried when they nerfed it in favor of dual wield frost.

Drizzt DKs make me sad too. :(

I kinda feel bad for DKs in a related sense. At the start of Wrath, and for a long time through Wrath, you had the option of making a 2h casterish melee class in the DK. You had a few options -- become a pet class and go Unholy. Hate pets? Go Blood or Frost, though Frost didn't last too long... but that was alright because Blood was fairly similar, and even had the option of better and more... naturally flowing self-healing. It sorta became a niche.

I worry about the continued existence of 2h Frost, but we'll see. I think they have a lot in stake there... if that falls through, people who rolled a DK to do DPS have two options: drop the 2h thing for dum ol non-traditional dual wielding DKs (which still to this date seem very very wrong to me!) or hope you like being a pet class and go Unholy. If no frost 2h, the original class as you envisioned it way back when is gone, a casualty of, predominantly, tanking tree design experiments gone bad.

We shall see.

In other news, I'm surprised at how little 4.0.1 seemed to affect my guild's raids. Individual specs went way up, down, or stayed about the same... but overall raid dps didn't change much for my guild last night. That's likely a result of just having the right specs present to balance out properly, but I'm sure it was also in part misleading data since we aren't playing our current specs to nearly the same degree of expertise as we were before 4.0.1. I was testing out Moonkin last night because we had a lot of healers on otherwise and I was playing kinda poorly, with mostly unreforged and oddly gemmed Resto gear, and still came up around 12.5k dps... well ahead of where I used to be before the patch, despite forgetting to cast the new Boomkin spell half the time. Not to mention it's been a really long time since I played Boomkin at all.

Upcoming buffs announced will definitely help my guild's usual comp, though, and I'm eager to see where Ferals (dps) sit. I really, really came to love that spec, but at the moment it just doesn't compare to even much worse geared Boomkins.

Reupped to try the new changes before the expansion, and get it sorted out.

Somewhere between when I quit and now my rogue seems to have lost about a third of his dps, and I have no idea how. I was doing 12kish before I quit in ICC (only the 10% buff at the time). I was struggling to pull 9k tonight.

I've regemmed, reforged, and talented according to the most recent theory crafting. Yellow/spell hit capped, expertise capped. My rotation is more or less exactly what I'm supposed to be doing. Have no idea what is wrong, why it's just not working. There was a rogue there with significantly worse gear than me pulling 11k+. I felt like a retard, but cannot find anything that I'm doing wrong.

I had noticed I wasn't quite doing as much as I thought I would in five mans, but I contributed that to just getting used to playing again. Hopefully I can get this figured out though, I'm used to being close to top dps all the time, and right now I'm way down the list.

As far as I've seen, it's nothing on your end. Rogues just got nerfed in the shuffle. I saw a video recap over on Tankspot's channel that said Blizz mentioned Rogues needing their Mastery bonuses quadrupled.

Fury is back to being pretty solid again. Actually much stronger on AoE thanks to Whirlwind now hitting all targets, not just 4.

Yeah Mut isn't bad at all. Definitely have to change your mindset when it comes to stats and "rotation" but once you understand what you're doing it's pretty good. In fact I was buffed several k's worth of dps with the same gear, once I nailed my "rotation" and reforged/re-enchanted stuff.

What's really great is that Mongoose is seeing some action again. I missed the electrified daggers from BC. Mongoose, currently, is slightly ever so slightly better than berserking.

But yeah, Combat is hosed.

Guess I should have mentioned that both me and the lesser geared rogue mentioned in the above post are mut rogues. I've enjoyed it more than combat since the kara days more of less, though I've switched back and forth due to gear stuff a few times.
