Bingo. Aside from the implication that Elmo being happy (rather than proper phrasing putting the emphasis on policy change) is the need for the thread to originate in Hellfire, the reason is simple. Political discussion goes in Hellfire. Insults (real or perceived) aren't the defining characteristic of Hellfire; political discussion is. The insults are free.

Same thing with tech threads; they're moved to the appropriate forum. As this needs to be. Simple as that. *shrug*

Where's the rule that says anything vaguely political should be in Hellfire? Who says it can't be here, in a forum specifically designed to be a catch-all? Or in the rants and raves area, or in the useless Heckfire zone? Your arbitrary delineation is based on when you had any truck around here.

And if I cared anything beyond a mild concern to not see this kind of crap in the General forum, I'd do more than just quote what other board members have been requesting, and offering a simple explanation for the rationale when it was you who expressed further clarification.

The fact that this thread devolved into anger (and the fact that the original poster knew it likely would) suggests that it probably belonged in hellfire all along.

Yep, politics definitely belongs in hellfire.

No, we're suggesting that discussion of a poltically controversial policy change should go into Hellfire because that's the purpose of Hellfire. I don't care if it's Elmo that posted it, or whether or not he's happy about it.

If he was happy that the policy at his workplace had changed and there was now going to be ice cream on Friday afternoons, I wouldn't give a ****.

I don't particularly give a **** if there's some explicit rule saying it needs to go there; the fact that there isn't is why I'm not calling for Elmo to be punished.
