Chuck Jones, I.Freleng and company used a lot more of Beethoven's music than just the fifth...

(When you hear Ride of the Valkyries, is it always accompanied by "Kiww da wabbit!" in your head too?)

And what plays in your head when you hear the Anvil Chorus?

Yes. It's also fun listening to my 3 year old daughter singing it around the house.

#7 was used in Mr. Holland's Opus. He plays it in class after finding out his son is deaf.

I used to listen to quite a bit of classical, but have since fallen away from it.

I would have to refresh myself on his symphonies before voting.

I could reveal your favorite, but, since you've been gushing about it in IMs for days, now, it wouldn't be much of a guess.

I expect a heavy predilection for 3, 5 and 9.

Looks like I'm the first to take the 3rd, but it's a close call between the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th for me. Why the prediction for the 3rd, though? I don't recall hearing it in any pop-culture context, but I'm sure it's been used somewhere.

Guessing yours? I have no idea. I'll say the 2nd, but not for any articulable reason.

Yup, and the Marriage of Figaro gives me images of Bugs giving Elmer a haircut.

I have 30 GB of Looney Tunes/Merrie Melodies for the kids, in individual short film .mkv files. (That's 356 of them.)

While I appreciate Beethoven's works, I listen to other composers more often. Of this list I would say #1, then #6 would be my personal favorites.

However, to add some of my favorites to the mix from different composers, excuse any crossing of musical periods.....

You've done it now, Sam. You've offended Khross's classical sensibilities. Time to move this thread to hellfire.

Yes, yes, we know, Arafys. Excuse me though, I'm busy having Stathol help me locate Sam so that I can drown him in a pool of his own bile.

Since I can't see what Sam posted - I assume it's a video, since I'm behind the company firewall - why all the vitriol? Is Yanni in there or something?

Aethien:

Pachelbel's Canon in D Major
Chopin's Nocturne in E Flat Major, Opus 9, No. 2
Mozart's Symphony No. 40 in G Minor

I'm fairly certain that's grounds for beating the man to death with his own testicles.

I'll clarify Khross's ire for the plebians.

Sam posted Pachelbel's Canon in D (the MOST overplayed peice of music in all history. Not saying it's bad, it's just EVERYWHERE), Chopin's Nocturne in E-flat major, and Mozart's Symphony 40 in G Minor. Nothing wrong with any of this music in, and of itself. But altogether you have a great pop-music mix CD for classical fans. Might as well have Britanny Spears, Backstreet Boys, and N'Sync.

Of course, the plurality of votes in the OP have gone to Beethoven's 9th/Ode to Joy, which could easily make the cut for that CD, so perhaps we shouldn't complain. ;)
