He's unfunny. But my point was Assange looks like him. And also the queer eye guy.

We're somehow more free now because we know the US engages in espionage in the UN? Someone is surprised to hear that?

In a broad sense, is better for the global economy if countries have an accurate assessment of what the U.S. is up to, including espionage. Government transparency is always good.

Free white male property owning colonists.

And, I'd still argue that you're wrong even with that, but statistically, you're absolutely wrong.

To extend your logic vis a vis governments, clearly because it allows people online to be tyrants.

After all, so long as nobody knows your name and address, you can't be arrested for, as an example, calling for politicians to be shot from time to time to keep the rest honest.

Nobody will be arrested for this except in places where it was always like this, and even there it's lessening. The world is increasingly democratizing due to the decentralization of information technology, and governments can't keep up.

It will be so ridiculous if they enact this bill just so they can get one man who's not even American in jail.

Article I, Section 9

They can't pass a law in order to put someone in jail. He would have to do it again after the bill is passed.

Which isn't illegal. Especially when one is simply quoting Thomas Jefferson. :p

No you're not. In fact, your espoused position in that regard is incredibly stupid.

A little bit of anarchy is essential. Government (and everyone in it) needs to be constantly terrified of screwing up even the slightest bit. They need to know if they step out of line they can and will be replaced, easily and on a whim.

Also, people need to shoot a few politicians every once in a while. Keeps them honest. A stable and strnog government is always a tyranny. The individual is supreme, and anything that considers itself an "authority" over its citizens needs a bullet.

This is just total nonsense. It's nothing but a perscription for mob rule which is at least as bad as tyrannical government.

I'm just confused by the "little bit of anarchy" concept. Anarchy is one of those all or nothing conditions. If it isn't full out, it isn't anarchy, it is something else.

Definition of ANARCHY
1
a : absence of government
b : a state of lawlessness or political disorder due to the absence of governmental authority
c : a utopian society of individuals who enjoy complete freedom without government
2
a : absence or denial of any authority or established order
b : absence of order : disorder <not manicured plots but a wild anarchy of nature — Israel Shenker>

a weakening and shrinking of government, a removal of government from areas it currently claims jurisdiction but doesn't belong (hence, an absence of government), and some good old fashioned chaos.

It's all fun and games, right up to the point the fighting's going on in your front yard.

Fighting shouldn't be going on there. Government shouldn't be there, unless they have a sudden urge to shovel the snow out of my driveway.

Chaos, by definition, means you can't predict where the fighting's gunna be, and anarchy means there's definitely gunna be fighting, and not by the government. It'll be your neighborhood warlord against the one the next block over.

None of what you stated is any such principle. It may bear some resemblance to what Jefferson had to say in some of his wilder moments, but America was not founded on any principle of shooting people on a whim.

That's great. Without government, good luck getting the fighting out of your front yard. You go right on out there and tell them it "shouldn't be there." I'm sure anyone having a gun battle over some minor annoyance at the government will have no compunctions over shooting you and taking your front yard while he's at it.

Government has never been on my front yard -- and yet strangely, nobody has ever been shot there.

No, what jefferson said in his "wilder moments" is the only reason America even exists. Jefferson's "Wilder moments" are the very core of freedom.

Neither have I advocated such.

Is your mail delivered?
Was your home built without permits?
Is your water metered?
Your power, is it enterprise or government?
You have never had any reason to have the police or the fire department at your door? (If no, consider yourself lucky, they almost never show up with good news.)
Do you have a road in front of your front yard? Alongside your house?
Do you pay property taxes? Has your house been appraised and has that appraisal become part of a government record?

Are any of these government functions?

I think you are either in denial or just plain mistaken about the government never having been in your front yard Talya. They sure have visited me on occasion.

Of course, to my knowledge no one has ever been shot here either. One fellow almost was, but he surrendered quickly when he saw my neighbor's gun.

Thomas Jefferson after Shay's Rebellion "A little revolution, now and then, is a good thing."

Thomas Jefferson Letter to William Smith 1787: "
"God forbid we should ever be twenty years without such a rebellion.
The people cannot be all, and always, well informed. The part which is
wrong will be discontented, in proportion to the importance of the facts
they misconceive. If they remain quiet under such misconceptions,
it is lethargy, the forerunner of death to the public liberty. ...
And what country can preserve its liberties, if its rulers are not
warned from time to time, that this people preserve the spirit of
resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as
to the facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost
in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from
time to time, with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
It is its natural manure." "
