Not to bad actually, I was surprised. AS you can probably see from the picture, it was a gorgeous, sunny & calm day which made it awesome for flying. I'll post a pic of the runway the workers have plowed out, but it was about 2800feet long and at least 75 feet wide, which isn't to much smaller than the regular 3500'x100' gravel strips we normally operate out of it. It was of course a bit bumpier than maintained gravel, but nothing to bad. The miners there have done a good job of keeping the ice pretty level and maintained. Just had to make sure we touched down near the starting threshold of the runway, and I used the normal amount of braking to slow the aircraft down. The slippery part was actually on the ramp area they had cleared out we had to do a 180 turn that was a bit skiddish hehe. All in all, a really fun experience that I'm glad I got to do!

I placed a marker on the Glade map of the rough area where the lake is. I lost the coordinates of where it is so this is only a guess It's basically "the middle of nowhere" though.

I'm under the impression that Los Angeles area ranges from an average of like, 81 degrees to 82 degrees.

San Diego's avg temperature is actually about 65 and LA isn't too far from that.

It's been hot all week, so I went down to the pool and sipped myself some nice chilled sparkling white wine...

Lenas and Talya, those figures are for near the coast. Inland it gets pretty hot fairly rapidly. East side San Diego can be 100F while the beach is 78F, without skipping a beat. San Fernando Valley can be 105F while the port is 65F. In Sacramento we enjoy a phenomenon called the Delta Breeze. Technically we are 80 miles inland, but when the delta breeze comes in up the Sacramento River delta it can cool a 100F day to a low 70s evening in a couple hours. Doesn't always blow through here, but my side of town, West Sacramento, usually gets it fairly early before the rest of the metropolitan area has a chance to heat it up.
