Well, what constitutes a lie in your book doesn't always pan out in reality. I think you were looking through your hate-colored glasses again, Khross. It was a fantastic speech in terms of reality, but your reality doesn't always mesh with actual reality. You still refuse to believe that humans are responsible for our warming trend, so your credibility on reality and fact is pretty thin.

"Hate-colored glasses"? Seriously, Monte???

Also global warming has nothing to do with this subject.

So, now those Monty calls racist, and those who disagree with HIGW can be dismissed out of hand. If one uses the logical fallacy of poisoning the well broadly enough, all those who disagree with them can be ignored.

Well I think its a lie when people allude to decisions like the car bailouts were good two days after reports come in that the people will never recoup their "investment" in the companies.

Yes, those who "disagree" with the reality of HIGW may as well be trying to argue that the world is flat. They are wrong, and can be dismissed out of hand. If they continue to hold that belied, despite the mountain of evidence in front of them, they can be reasonably considered to be willfully ignorant or just insane.

People who hold President Obama to standards they did not hold President Bush to are likely expressing some level of racism, in addition to what is likely to be a more prevalent bigotry towards liberals in general. For example, when the Tea Baggers went out and protested the horrible tyrannical tyranny of Obama's tax policy, they convieniently ignored the fact that it was essentially no different that Bush's. Bush is the one who set up the sunset clause, and Obama simply allowed it to come to pass.

So, under a white conservative republican, not an iota of outrage from the Tea Baggers.

Under a black liberal democrat, it's suddenly a horrifying communist fascist marxist secret takeover of our government, and threats of violence against him increase by 400%.

Now, you can try to argue that race has *nothing* to do with this, but I'm going to call shenanigans.

As for poisoning the well, it has never been clean. You guys have filled it with your anti-liberal, anti-democrat, anti-hispanic, and anti gay rhetoric. No, not all of you are guilty of all of those things, but nearly every member of the board is guilty of at least one of those things.

You want to clean out the well? Be my guest. Great idea. Let's do that.

When I was in college and took geology, I was shown that throughout the history of the earth, our weather has gone through cycles and patterns in regards to Ice Ages and Global Warming...even talk of it being about time for the planet to go through another magnetic reversal.
Its a natural process and its in the geologic record.

I'm not saying that pollution is not harmful, but its proven that the earth goes through these cycles on its own, and this has been established eons before humans even came into the picture.

I don't see how that makes me insane or willfully ignorant?

How about you stop making overgeneralizations, grow some balls, and name names rather than continue to fire birdshot into the fog.

Yeah, no poisoning going on from the right!

Grow some balls? Yeah, because it's so very brave to be an outspoken conservative on this board. Heh.

So you aren't going to actually hold people accountable to specific things they've said and would rather just blanket and generalize everyone on this board as "anti-liberal, anti-democrat, anti-hispanic, and anti gay"?

I wouldn't advise talking to it like that, Aizle, lest you be included among the "anti-liberal, anti-democrat, anti-hispanic, and anti gay". He alreaady questioned your "liberal credentials" because you have more "tolerance" for conservatism, which I am assuming means you don't automatically and venomously villify any idea that doesn't jive with you.

I was taught the same thing LadyKate. Guess that makes us both insane and/or willfully ignorant.

Oh, well....coffee, anyone?

Well, it's a target rich environment, Raf. A lot of conservatives say and have said a lot of really nasty things about liberals, gays, hispanics, and democrats. It happens very casually and is simply accepted parlance here. But if anyone dares to use the same tactics against conservatives, they are the [/i]enemy[/i] and must be purged.

I stand agape at the hypocrisy and willful ignorance on the board from conservatives. A few scant years ago, had liberals been this vicious or slanderous against Bush, they would have been banned. The board would have screamed that they were traitors, that they hated America, that they were fascists and communists and wanted the terrorists to win.

Flash ahead to a liberal, black president, and all the sudden the tea baggers are the greatest patriots in the world. People holding obama-as-hitler signs and sporting assault rifles are not considered to be crazed anti-american fringies, but noble patriots.

I didn't see these conservatives loosing a single wink of sleep over the expansion of executive authority under bush (with the exception of Khross and Elmo), and I *sure* as hell didn't see anyone out there trumpeting the kind of hate that gets passed around here so casually back then.

But suddenly, a black liberal democrat is in office, and everything he does is a shocking abuse of executive authority. In other words, if you are a white conservative president, just about anything you do is forgivable and understandable. Warrantless wiretaps? No problem! Pre-emptive war based on bad and fabricated intelligence? You go, girl! Government expansion like the Dpt. of Homeland security? No worries! Funding faith based initiatives? Why, that's explicitly approved in the constitution! (...) Medicare part D? It's a wonderful program!

Conservatives were perfectly happy being socialists when their team was in power. No, I am not counting Khross.

Funny you say that. Forgetting everyone else, please demonstrate where I made the assertions you just claimed or evidence that indicates that my perspective would be anywhere close to aligned with this. I noticed how you didn't once target me in that entire tirade, instead choosing words like "a lot of conservatives", "these conservatives" etc. I can't post and make a comment on every single thread that's written. Half the time, I'm posting from work to try to get a 5 minute respite from the flood of **** that constantly comes to our group.

Bonus question: who has been one of the most critical members of this board with regards to monetary policy and the appointment of Ben Bernanke as the Federal Reserve Chairman?
