OK, so part of my job is putting the soups in buckets and putting them in the walk-in. And being more then slightly crazy there is a right way to do this. Labels go on the side of the bucket with the measurements, all labels face the same direction on the rack, handles are aligned, and all the ice wands are in the 12 o'clock position (I'll take a picture of the correct configuration tomorrow). Not only is this set-up more visually harmonious, it means the wands don't get tangled, the labels are visible, the amount of each soup is easy to see, and the buckets are east to pull of the rack wit the right hand leading. So... yes, I'm crazy, but it's not just an issue of OCD.

So after putting the soups away I moved on to another task. And when I went back in the walk-in one of the wands was out of position. So either I missed one (not bloody likely) or someone moved it to get to the lower rack and didn't put it back. So I fixed it. A bit later one of the buckets had been rotated 90°, but the wand was in the correct position. I figured someone moved the bucket, put it back wrong but lined the wand up. Better, but still frustrating. It's not rocket surgery, folks. I rolled my eyes and went to lunch. Afterward I went into the walk-in and saw that all the wands were still good, all the handles nice and even, and all the labels facing the correct direction. I was thrilled until I realized that the buckets had been rotated 180° and the labels had been peeled and positioned on the opposite side (without the measurements).

So I walked out and said "OK, now you're just f***ing with me, knock it off!". My boss cracked up and said "See? Told you!" to the other girl on shift. I love my job.

Sounds like something I'd do. People with OCD are so fun to mess with!

I used to do the same thing to my wife with everything in the kitchen until she got over her insane levels of OCD...

There really is a fine line between "well organized" and "OCD", isn't there?

When I do something, it's being "well organized" and when you do it it's 'cause of OCD.

Not a fine line at all.
