After all that, when Boehner says it's the President standing in the way, he's just flat lying.

As I see it, one side has presented actual bills to be voted on, have voted on them, and have passed at least one. The other side has presented "proposals", there have been no actual written bills to be voted on; nothing more than spit-balling, or back of the envelope musings. Words are wind.

And as I see it, one side ramrodded bills through that they knew had no chance as a political stunt where as the other side has attempted to negotiate in good faith and actually get some agreement before wasting everyone's time.

I have the opposite view. Putting forth completely lopsided bills you know have zero chance of passing is empty showboating for the media and a waste of valuable and limited time, whereas actual progress toward resolving the issue is accomplished through good-faith negotiations (i.e. proposals and counterproposals).

Its OK from what I just heard from Boehner the Republicans are going to cave. Faux crisis averted. Until a few months down the line. Looks like they are lobbing Obama the potato with no time to get rid of it. And then Obama will have to deal with this again in the beginning of election season.

I suspect that Obama is smart enough to see that tactic for what it is and not fall for it.

Obama is lying.

Boehner's been lying.

This is news?

Ahh, so he'll veto an increase of the debt ceiling if it means having to work during the election season?

So he's justifying raising the debt limit by saying "HEY EVERYONE ELSE DID IT!!!11!!1", but he campaigned on 'Change' and 'Hope' ?

"Cut, cap and balance" passed the House with bipartisan support, why couldn't it be voted on on the Senate instead of tabled? Somebody afraid to give it a vote? Only 4-5 guys with a "D" after their name are needed to pass it. Why are the Democrats being so obstructionist?

When the good-faith negotiations begin, let me know:

It is hope and change. See, before it was only the Republicans who could lie to the people, spend money they didn't have, and blame it all on everyone else. Now the Democrats get to do it, too, so we have equality at last.

I'd hardly call that bipartisan support.

There was no compromise before the last election when health care was more important than jobs, why whine now?

All it takes is one to count as Bipartisan support!

Actually if you look, I complained about the republicans lack of serious input there as well.

In other words...you blame the pubs for everything your Dems get or don't get.

Got it.

Your party mentioned that then, too, but fortunately the election enabled this standoff.

Funny ...

It only took Olympia Snow to call the Health Care Reform Act bipartisan ...

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the cut, cap and balance proposal was the one that doesn't raise the debt limit at all, right? The one that caps spending at 18% of GDP, requires a supermajority to raise taxes, and has various other draconian measures that hampers Congress' ability to do anything until they manage to pass a balanced budget amendment, right?

So, when the D's hold closed meetings and (literally) lock the R's out of the meeting rooms, it's the R's fault. When the R's all vote no on a bill, it's the R's fault; when the D's all vote no on a bill, it's the R's fault. Pretty clear where your allegiance falls.

Hillary would've done a much better job than Obama... I've though so since the beginning. It's a shame that she wasn't elected.

It's really a valid point. This situation is very similar to the Health Care situation. Only difference is Reps can't ram it through.

It makes no sense to me that otherwise intelligent people hold the position that when the R's vote no, it's obstructionist, but when the D's do it, the R's are at fault for that too. If not being able to accept blatant logical disconnects are a sign of "being a child", so be it.

At this point, there are two camps. One thinks that Obama can do no wrong. The other one is right...
