Your encumbrance limit in werewolf form is 1900 + your normal encumbrance limit.

Where are you getting that? Its possible, I was close to that last time I tried it. Can't bring up character menu on the 360 version, so I'm not sure.

Also, being a lycanthrope will make you 100% immune to disease, which means you never need to worry about accidentally becoming a vampire, either. Beneficial even if you never transform.

I restarted recently because I didn't quite like the type of character I was playing, and I'm only now getting back to where I was in my first playthrough, which wasn't very far at all (horn of whatever quest from the greybeards), but I already know that I'm training my pickpocket skill to 50 so I can get the 'deep pockets' perk which increases your carrying capacity by 100.

Pickpocketing is also pretty damn fun and overpowering. Being able to swipe all equipped weapons and armor from a person before attacking them = hilarious fun.

Yeah I read about that, it's ridiculously overpowered.

On a related note, probably one of the most difficult things to do in game design is to strike the right balance with all of the complex elements of an RPG like Skyrim or any of the more open RPGs like the Elder Scroll games, but allowing for modding goes a long way, and I'm sure we'll see mods that temper the pickpocketing perks along with better balancing all the others. Unfortunately, most of us can't resist playing the game to death right now, after release, so all those wonderful mods that you know will be made won't matter much to us.

I sometimes envy those rare individuals who won't play this game until a year from now, with all the patches, and all the best mods. They'll have the best experience of this game, but of course they'll miss out on some of the social exchange with everyone playing it at the same time.

Why would you ever need to? Just a few points in sneak and you can pretty much one-shot kill nearly anything that wields a weapon. The only time I run into problems is if I'm spotted first and overwhelmed by numbers in a confined space. Even giants are ridiculously easy (3 Giants+3 mammoths simultaneously--cake.)(or those dang frost dragons. My wood-elf regularly gets his butt kicked by them--Elder, Blood, named, poison... no problem. Frost? gets my butt kicked about 50/50--might be that I am typically fighting them among the mountains where they like to do flyby attacks rather than hovering, and I still can't hit a swiftly moving target with my bow. (zoom/50% time slowdown screws with my timing)

Besides without the ability to explode pants, pickpocketing can't be NEARLY as fun as it is in fallout 3/new vegas

The "Poisoned" perk in the Pickpocket tree that allows you to plant poisons on your target to harm them.

While not the same as exploding pants, it would appear that the effect is similar and likely equally as hilarious.

There are times when removing weapons to prepare for a fight is helpful. For instances when you don't want to attack guards but know they are going to aggro further in.

As for frost dragons, they were much easier on my 2handed character. 50% frost resistance for Nords made those dragons the easiest of the bunch.

Potentially game breaking bugs in the new patch. Update at your own risk.

http://www.makeuseof.com/tag/elder-scro ... lems-news/

Quote:
However, those glitches are all minor compared to the game breaking glitch that the patch actually creates. People who have updated already are experiencing resistance to magical effects being non-existent. So if you are wearing a piece of armor that boosts your flame resistance it would be negated by this bug, and the flame would do full damage.

In some cases players have also reported weird behavior from dragons where they fly backwards and sometimes just fly around without showing any interest in engaging the player.

Hmmm. Analog sneaking is the first legitimate reason I've seen to use a controller for this game. Yes, I could see where that could come in very handy.

And I agree that assassin's blade is stupidly overpowered. Especially coupled with the dark brotherhood's gloves (double sneak attack damage). My blade of woe does 30x damage on a sneak attack. I've one-shot unaware dragons.

Still, extremely fun though.

It's pretty much those gloves alone that make assassin's blade so ridiculous. Without them, you actually do more damage sneak attacking with maces and the first perk in that line, as 75% armor reduction and the higher damage of maces is much stronger than going from a 6x to a 15x multiplier.

Well, it's just that in the last 500 years, they've never thought to improve their technology.

Noone is talking about the upcoming patch and steamworks inclusion? All skyrim mods will be managed and auto updatable through Steam, plus Bethesda is releasing their full PC toolkit for the game. It's going to be AMAZING for the mod community.

The Dwarves clearly had some steam-punkish technology.

Perhaps some of the laws of chemistry/physics don't apply? Why would you need to advance technologically when magic can do so much?

Not all periods in human history have rapid advances in technology too-- 500-1000 didn't see that many technological revolutions and of course were not subjected to period invasions from demon dimensions, dragon infestation, etc.

Well I found where to turn off auto-updates in Steam. From now on I'll wait to see what the general feedback is on a particular patch before re-enabling it.

Also, I've been intentionally trying to play the game very slowly, bits here and bits there, so the important patches will catch up, but it seems like this is a lost cause.

It's okay, playable and not game-breaking is all I ask for. I'd also really like to not have to go through some quest then find it's broken too but damn, I took a look at the list of current quest bugs. Thankfully I haven't run into any of them yet.

Can't this be said for most, if not all, fantasy? I mean, look at the LOTR and Star Wars worlds. Thousands of years pass, still using the exact same tech and clothing.

In Star Wars and other deep-future sci fi, the thinking is that it's no longer possible to make generational technological leaps; improvement is very incremental because so many major discoveries have already been made. Thus it makes sense that technology is essentially the same across a period of even 4000 years; noting fundamentally new has been done because its hard to find anything fundamentally new to do. There are improvements, but they're very, very tiny.
