...if you are in a group with a scoundrel... let him mezz the elite before engaging into the fray. With Sawbones skill tree line, when the MOB wakes up, it will do 50% less damage for 10 secs (level appropriate of course; I'm 27)

Grouped with two other guys doing an Heroic quest... they failed to comprehend that my tranquilize can hold an elite or champion for 1 min... while we clean up the trash first. Now I understand the pains of playing an enchanter in EQ (I only played a Ranger for 9 years). They thought it better to try and take down the toughest mob first.... which even if I mezzed one of the other mobs in the group it was going to wake up because it was taking too long to take down the elite.

When I did successfully mez the elite first, one of the guys would wake it up with an AE. *sigh* So I spent half the fight healing him instead of concentrating on the main tank and adding some dps, interrupts, CC.

One thing I enjoy about group tactics/fighting style in this game... is slower can be better... have to pick and choose when to use certain skills. Everyone wants to wham, bam, thank you ma'am... when the slow ride is a much more wise choice.

The guy waking up MOBs and gang rushing into battle did admit to being drunk. It was definitely an wild ride (and not boring) but it didn't have to be such a helter-skelter, cluster ***k of an adventure.

Sorry for my rant... When I can solo Heroic areas by myself, albeit slower, without dying... and to see multiple deaths several times (not me; them :D ) I was scratching my head wondering, 'does this really have to be this difficult?'

I understand the pains of enchanters. I caused them lots of pain on purpose.

Back when arrows broke mez, a sidestep to the left and *SPLAT* dead Tuls.

"GODDAMNIT FYS!!! I KNOW IT WAS YOU!!!"
"Me? whatever you you mean good sir?"

It is a time honored tradition to allow overaggroing dps to die.

yes, several times.

I would start typing in between fights... and the next second the Jedi tank was jumping right at mezzed MOB... with two other easier MOBs already attacking us. *sigh*

They were guildmates. Perhaps they were getting a kick out of my request? *shrug*

The drunk guy did reply once, with his opinion that he thought it better to kill the Elite first.

Heh. My standard practice is to take the elite out last, anyways. Even if you can't CC him, his DPS is usually not proportional to his HP, so you take out more incoming DPS by killing the stuff that won't take long first, then killing the hardest stuff last.

exactly... I do same thing when soloing.

Take out dps, get rid of one MOB... less issues can arise... having to concentrate on less is always better.

Besides if I wipe.... that's one less MOB I have to deal with upon rez (if I take down any prior to dying of course)

In solo play I found that an AoE attack often takes out the extras nicely so concentrating on the big guy seems to work alright. When we did the Esseles as 3 jedi and the puppy murderer, I was trying (targeting not withstanding) to handle the little guys while Dal tanked the big guy as a rule. Of course, Esseles doesn't really need tanks and all but that was my thought process....

This fall? Coming with the New Year!

And actually, it'll be 3 Jedi and a puppy murderer and a half.

I used that one when I played my Sith Inquisitor, and I gotta say, she looked quite yummy.
