I don't disagree with you, and I certainly have no love for Romney (or Obama, for that matter), but I want to address this. I really feel that one is scraping the bottom of the barrel to pull up stuff from high school like this.
(1) Kids (including late teens) are mean to each other. I hate bullying as much as anyone, but pretty much every kid does it at some point or another. "Lord of the Flies" is a pretty accurate social statement. Children are not "innocent." They are human. And given an opportunity or reason, every single one of us has the capacity for cruelty, capriciousness and vindictiveness, as we do for kindness, compassion and mercy. Most of us try to train the nice things into our kids and the mean things out, but school and other kids often bring out the worst in each other. Yes, it needs to be dealt with, but i don't think it necessarily says much about the person they are 10 years later, let alone 40 years later.
(2) Opinions I find unacceptable in others are opinions I might have held 20 years ago. I used to be a good Christian girl. (Well, Christian, anyway. Good is another matter.) I firmly believed homosexuality was despicable to God and an abomination. And of course I'd never have admitted, even to myself, of my bisexuality at the time. So I tend to allow for people's opinions to change.
