I gotta admit, Numbuk might have been right here. D3's "real game" seems to start with Inferno. Normal mode has been faceroll-easy for my first 15 hours. Only boss that gave me any trouble was Belial but that's mainly because I was stubborn and didn't want to use Vault.
Like I said, Diablo's story is really only secondary to the core game. It's just a big loot-hunt and survival skills test. It's really more for the types of folks who get a thrill about finding a really, really, awesome piece of equipment and never knowing where it's going to be coming from. Layered on top of that, is working toward a build that can survive the worst punishment the hardest difficulty levels have to offer (which then in turn allows even more awesome loot to be found).
It's not for everyone. But it sure is fun for those with that kind of loot "itch."
Also, and this is important for everyone playing this game, Battle.net is running rampant with accounts being hacked. Remember the problem WoW had? Well, this is the same thing but cranked up to 11. Less users spread out over multiple servers, one auction house to rule them all, and soon to be real-money AH coming soon, it's nothing but a big shiny tempting candy for the "hackers."
I strongly recommend getting your accounts attached to an authenticator if you have not done so already. Blizzard offers them for free for anyone with a smartphone (even fairly old ones). And you can also get a physical one for 6 bucks, which is less than what most people pay for lunch.
Don't fall into the trap of "Well, I am sure there are no keyloggers on my machine." Trust me, they have far more tricks to get your info than just keylogging.
