You sure he wasn't also the first, posting under a different username?

With regards to the original question, and nomination, I must point out that "We Built this City" was recorded by Starship and not Jefferson Starship. This either invalidates the question in it's entirety or sets the precedent that any song recorded by the band in any of it's incarnations is fair game, in which case I nominate "White Rabbit"

I haven't heard that song in forever, didn't know they sung it, so will vote that one. Though I've always liked "I Didn't Mean To Stay All Night" for some reason. Thought that was just from "Starship", so does that count? Am I rambling again?

Now I have a desire to find all the songs I like with the word white in them.

When considering "hit" singles by any popular artist...ever, it's hard to imagine a worse song than We Built This City. Which is not to say such a debacle does not exist. I am just hard pressed to think of what it might be. I'd rather hear Sara. Maybe.

That being said I do like White Rabbit & Jane. I'm not sure why I like Jane as it's not the most original song ever, but /shrug.

Technically, White Rabbit was by Jefferson Airplane. Starship is a spin-off group. The best Starship tune by time on charts and sales in general is probably Elmo's choice.

Actually, I believe "Nothing's Gonna Stop Us Now" performed better on the charts and both the original album sales as well as the Mannequin soundtrack should be considered.
And with regards to the original question, that of the best Jefferson Starship song, "No Way Out" seems to have been the best performer although I personally prefer "Find Your Way Back".
