I grew up on a farm. I learned to drive on a tractor (so I can drive a stick shift, I just don't enjoy it). My father was a farmer from a long line of farmers. My mother was a school teacher.
I lived in one house from the time I was born until I left for college. It was over a hundred years old when it burned down in 2001. It used to be a one-room schoolhouse.
I was the valedictorian of my high school graduating class. I was also the first person from my father's family to graduate college, and one of the handful to ever even attend.
Despite being a huge geek, I was never picked on in school. On a semi-related note, I have never been in a fight.
I have wanted to make movies ever since a friend took me to see
Twister on my birthday. It wasn't the quality of the movie that clicked for me, but rather the awe-inspiring ability to unify the people in the theater of disparate origins with the same emotion.
My left thumb is double-jointed. When I was born, the tendon was knotted, and I was unable to extend the thumb out. Doctors wanted to operate on me, but my mother was adamant that they weren't going to be doing that. It later fixed itself.
I've had one broken bone, when a fat kid fell on me during an elementary school game of baseball during PE. Greenlimb fracture of my left arm.
My continuing loves of Batman and the X-Men stem from the animated series of my youth.
Batman: The Animated Series gave me a lifelong love of art deco and retro stylings, and
X-Men led to me getting a tattoo of a phoenix when I got to college.
I have the aforementioned one tattoo (right upper arm), and no piercings. When I was younger, I wanted an ear piercing, but I never got it. I have since grown out of that desire. I want another tattoo, though.
I am allergic to mozzarella cheese, and have very bad outdoor allergies. Also, somewhat allergic to pets.
When I was in high school, I founded the first drama club of any school in the county, and was a member of the academic team and the computer team. The drama club folded a couple of years after I graduated, though I've heard they're looking to bring it back.
No one likes to play Trivial Pursuit with me.
Phe and I are three years' different in age. My parents share the same age span. We and they were both married by the same man, my great-granduncle Gene.
Among other things I wanted to be as a child were: scientist, doctor, and private investigator.
