The abstract doesn't mention body hair, and I don't have access to read the full article, but it's not inconceivable to me that shaving could have at least some impact, particularly when sprint times are now being measured in thousandths of a second (though typically only reported/recorded in hundredths). Certainly those female sprinters should be able to improve their times with a quick snip of the pony tails!
Sorry, I was speaking specifically about body hair wind resistance being pretty silly at sprint speeds.
As far as snipping pony tails, surely if it came down to that, skullcaps would be an option ala speed skating?
