Wow, really?

Go buy some, steam it up and drench it in butter, or wrap it in bacon and grill it up or something. Then go pee, and lemme know.
Asparagus is great, but too expensive. My grandma literally used to get it off of roadsides when I was a kid. We'd be driving along a country road and she'd have us stop to pick some. She was always doing stuff like this - black walnuts, we'd come home with bags of them. Maybe that's why I like living in Californai so much - I pulled some loquats off a tree the other day on the way home from school with my kids. I love free food.

Aspargus is wonderful in stir fries, or with hollandaise, or grilled, or......

In other words, I love it!

Really, sorry, you are taken off the allowed to breed list and any offspring already in existence will be tested for your non-human tendencies. Love of Asparagus is one of the make or break tests for improving humanity.

Both of my parents love it, I hate it so much.

Strangely, I grew up eating and loving canned asparagas. I'm not so fond of the fresh/steamed stuff, although it's slowly growing on me.

Less strange is that I *love* raw broccoli, but won't even go in a room with the stuff is being cooked. The smell makes me gag.

Same deal with carrots. Raw is fine, cooked, ain't happn'in.

Asparagus is something very easy to screw up usually by overcooking. You don't want it very far from raw. Best is lightly sprayed with olive oil and seasoned with garlic and sea salt. Roast for 8-12 minutes at 400

Cilantro doesn't taste like soap to me, it just doesn't taste good. The more one uses the worst the dish tastes - it has an overpowering taste that is on the negative side to me. Almost every dish I have that has cilantro in it has too much for my taste.

And oddly its those who don't mind cilantro that seem to only be tasting half of it - so those who like it seem to actually have a limited palette.

Yeah, I was gonna say something about canned asparagus (and I've had my share of it), but you foiled me. Problem is that it's hard to get it all cooked properly at the same time, what with different size spears, etc.

The only time I eat canned veggies is when I make three bean salad. Otherwise, completely agree.

Same here. We go to the farmer's market almost every Saturday year round for fresh, organically grown vegies that I don't have room to grow myself.

Canned vegetables are only marginally less healthy than fresh vegetables, which is to say ...

Apparently increasingly not healthy at all if they come from domesticated cultivars.

Each fruit and vegetable in our stores has a unique history of nutrient loss, I’ve discovered, but there are two common themes. Throughout the ages, our farming ancestors have chosen the least bitter plants to grow in their gardens. It is now known that many of the most beneficial phytonutrients have a bitter, sour or astringent taste. Second, early farmers favored plants that were relatively low in fiber and high in sugar, starch and oil. These energy-dense plants were pleasurable to eat and provided the calories needed to fuel a strenuous lifestyle. The more palatable our fruits and vegetables became, however, the less advantageous they were for our health.

Love cilantro

Love apsaragus

Hate Brussels sprouts

As an aside: spent today processing 20 pounds of green beans. Most was washed, blanched and frozen into meal sized packs. Some was pickled in my first attempt at canning.

I recently froze 5 cups of cherries after making a pie which took another 5 cups of cherries, and dehydrated another 2-3 cups. Still have some on my tree to gather up and either freeze, dry, or eat fresh...maybe some of all three.:)

Next are the apricots in a few more weeks.

I beat the ants this year!! Yahoo!! :)
