The government is actually no longer able to get into the black by cutting spending. The nondiscretionary spending plus the military budget puts the country in the red already.

All that can be changed by a willing, competent Congress.

So cut nondiscretionary spending and the military budget.

Seriously. What happens to a person who's mortgage and grocery budget exceeds their income? Eventually they are forced to cut spending one way or another. They can either sell their home and live somewhere else, or have it taken away from them. One way or another, you've eventually gotta cut spending.

Except that cutting nondiscretionary spending is political suicide, so you can't do that. Instead, Congress is choosing to inflate our way out of the problem instead.

We need people willing to be elected to one term.

So...real suicide is preferable to political suicide?

Not only would I not care if I was in for one term, I'd be SHOCKED if I weren't beaten in a re-election race.

There's only so many times you can call everybody else in Congress an idiot before the media would demonize you, after all.

You could make it your campaign platform, then they couldn't even cover you without being forced to air your views!

I'm pretty sure that would be my platform, actually.

Am I reading some of you right? You don't support term limits because...well I guess I still don't understand your argument.
