I wasn't sure when you said flubber if you meant the original (which was titled "The Absent Minded Professor" or the remake with Robin Williams. I vote original. Personally, I think we should probably start with extra-beloved films and work down from there. I loved the don knotts films growing up (the reluctant astronaut, No Deposit No Return), but there are literally hundreds that fall into that category. I vote the first film Skee watches and reviews (assuming he has not seen it) is Terry Gilliam's Time Bandits, mainly for the reason that I just verified it's on Netflix streaming and will be very easy to watch. Also, because it is relatively insane.

Ok, then I still vote for The Time Bandits.

I have tried legend. I love love love Ridley Scott, and I love Tim Curry. And yet, every. single. time. I try to watch it, I fall asleep about twenty minutes in.

I keep meaning to caffeinate the hell out of myself and give it another go.

Also, how in the Hell have you not seen "A Christmas Story?" They play it for 24 hours every year! It's tradition at my wife's family's house to have it playing in the background all day. It's still excellent. The line "Some men are Baptists, others Catholics; my father was an Oldsmobile man", kills me every time.

The Last Starfighter wasn't Disney. (Lorimar/Universal)


Dragonslayer was Disney's, but they farmed out distribution to Paramount because they weren't comfortable with the mature content. (Dragonslayer is responsible for Disney later creating the Touchstone brand, for movies that didn't quite fit with Disney's image.)

Ah, I must've mis-remembered that because Disney channel picked it up and showed it constantly for a while.

Haha, yeah I can't believe we got this far down the thread without it. Also, "They Live", also by John Carpenter. Not the greatest movie ever, but definitely the greatest "impromptu fight in an alley" ever. And home to many quotes that have been lifted over, and over, and over.

The movie was equally sad. I agree that I both loved and hated it. I have never read the book or seen the movie since childhood, and I never will again. Stupid authors targeting the one weak spot I have. :cry:
