I literally just sent that link to my brother. I kind of wish I had held off on buying my console now.

Smart move on their part. Titanfall is definitely a system seller. Really glad it's not exclusive.

They were worried that people in South Africa might actually like them. They've got an image to maintain.

Getting it digitally on XBO. Managing to resist shelling out >$200 for that preposterous(ly beautiful) statue that would sit around and gather dust. ;)

EA broke the Xbox One sign-in. I really need to learn to stop buying EA products.

Huh? I didn't notice any problems when I got home to play. What exactly is happening?

This week is a but bust for me, evening-wise, but I did get a chance to play half a dozen matches and level up to 5.

One. I got home at 6:30 and played for about an hour and a half, then played about another hour at 11:30 or so.

I will say, I definitely feel like they didn't use the strongest maps for the beta. A few of the new ones have made quite a positive first impression on me.

I couldn't log in from ~6:30 until I stopped trying at 9:45. Apparently a hard reboot should resolve the issue for me.

Logged in fine today, set up my second ever Xbox One party on Live. Seemed to go more intuitively than a few months ago. Not sure if that's Killer Instinct vs. Titanfall or representative of an os update.

Logged in today. Not impressed with the low level weapons and titans so far. The CPU controlled npcs feel like a cheap kill that doesn't need to be there.

Yes and no, for me. Honestly, once I started viewing Attrition as a MOBA, all kinds of things made sense. You farm NPCs to win and accelerate access to the toys to go wreck other peoples' day as they try to do the same. It has a lot of similar beats, for me, and it works. There's also an interesting art to blending in and using them as cover. One that I haven't perfected, yet, but have seen used against me more than a few times.

Total agreement on the weapons. The Smart Pistol is novel and kind of fun, but absolutely **** against players unless you have the knack (and often the unlocks) to drop in behind a guy unseen and follow him around for 5 seconds. I'm torn because I want to like it, but can't stand the knowledge that in any mutual-surprise situation, you lose. The basic carbine is kind of boring to me, and I'm not very good with it. The Shotgun hits more than a few of the right buttons for me, but then, I've got a history with shotgun classes going back to Quake mod Team Fortress. And then I found out I like the first SMG even better. Unlocking the stim pilot ability really put the shine on those two weapons, too.

Level 11, now, after another few matches. I'm going to have to switch back to campaign mode to get those other titan chassis unlocked now that I can customize them. Still running into new maps that I still like better than the two that went into the beta. My big focus now is trying to condition myself to seek high ground more instinctively, work on my parkour flow, and figure out how to wall hang on demand.

Good points on the parkour Kaffis. I do like the mobility in the game as a pilot, it adds a layer to FPS that has been missing since Unreal Tournament. Is it just me or does this feel like a blending of Unreal Tournament and Battlefield?

That said, I am very frustrated by the Titans. When I pilot them I am instagibbed by pilots latching on and overloading my core? and when I go against them my pilot artillery is ineffective at best (more likely suicidal) as it takes 4-5 of the archery missles and my assault Titan loses every toe-to-toe battle.

I am level 6 I think so I will go home and see if I can grind out some levels to get better gear and hopefully reach some level of parity.

Hop, on the titans -- you're describing getting rodeo'd with the pilots latching on. You can jump onto a titan, which will cause you to climb up and rip off a panel on top, which you can then shoot into for direct damage even when the titan's shielded. Note -- if you shoot into the panel with anti-titan weapons, you'll take damage yourself, as well. So either use spaced out very small bursts with the sidewinder or switch to your carbine/rifle/shotgun/sidearm/whatever.

The best solution is to exit the titan and kill them pilot-to-pilot, or to keep your titan around other players who can watch your back and shoot them off when they go for the rodeo kill if your team is working together well.

Some matches, I feel like I'm more productive leaving the titan on follow or guard and staying on foot myself. The auto-titan AI isn't going to slaughter whole teams, but it can attract attention well and does a good job of keeping the area clear of NPCs (who, contrary to first impressions, can and will kill you if you completely ignore them) so you can focus on enemy pilots and titans.

I'm not really sold on the default assault titan. I don't really like the chaingun. Try experimenting with the tank (or artillery, I don't remember when that unlocks) loadout instead. I prefer the tank's 40mm cannon and I can usually do some damage with the nuke ejection when it is time to go down.

Ah, I assumed it was an ability that you unlocked later. Good to know I can try this.

I always feel this way. I always just set my titan to auto-follow and it can handle engaging piloted titans while I try to plink them with my AT weapon.

The chain gun seems great for anti-personnel operations but yeah it is worthless against enemy titans. I'll try the tank load-out.

Do you know if at some point you can customize your titan load-outs the way you can customize your class load-out?

Yeah. You get access to custom titan loadouts at either level 10 or 11. (I blew through the last bit of 9 and all of 10 in one phenomenal match with like 7 challenge completions, lol, so I don't know which was the unlock level) You can only customize loadouts for the middle-of-the-road Atlas titan until you complete the campaign. Completing the campaign on either Militia or IMC unlocks the fast/light titan, the Stryder, and then completing the other side unlocks the heavy/slow titan, the Ogre, for customization. Until then, you can only use the Stryder and Ogre on the Artillery and Tank default loadouts.

I haven't gotten a chance to really try it out, but I've customized up an Atlas to use the 40mm and nuke ejection; we'll see whether I prefer the Ogre or the Atlas that way.

How do you choose sides for the campaign? That is what I started on and don't recall being asked which side of the war I wanted to be on, it just stuck me with the militia.

I'm not entirely sure. I've only played two campaign matches so far.

I think the first time you select campaign, it puts you on whichever side needs players in the first match it finds. So long as you stay in that lobby, you'll stay on the same side in successive matches/maps as you progress through the campaign (much like you keep the same teams in classic mode or whatever it's called).

If you duck out early from the campaign (like I did when one of my friends came on) and then return to it later, it appears to give you the option of where to start, with the default to try to continue from where you left off, if it can find a match with openings for the correct map with you on the right side. If you try to continue and it can't find the right map, it will search earlier maps in the campaign (presumably with the thinking that if you get in on one of those, you can ride the campaign back to where you left off earlier and keep progressing from there).

Presumably, once you finish the campaign on one side, you can select the other (or it will automatically place you on the other) so you can get both sides done.

I finished the campaigns and now have unlocked both chassis. I think the Stryder will be sweet once I unlock the upgraded melee attack but until then it doesn't have the shields/armor to go toe to toe with the other chassis.

Not seeing a viable strategy for using the Ogre yet but I am sure it will come to me.

For now I am sticking with the Atlas with the 40mm cannon (good call!) with the cluster missiles but I might switch back to the rocket pack.

The CAR SMG is way better than the out of the box assault rifle for me.

Now that I am doing the death matches, I get it, this game is really incredible.
