More of a rant but: A new low in pugging!

Vestalen of Cairne

Where to begin?

Spec: 66/0/2

Do the math.

Weapon? TS Destroyer

Ring? Ghoulish Glee

Legs? Titanforged Leather Legguards of Triumph

Arms? Titanforged Armwraps of Triumph

Chest? Titanforged Leather Tunic of Triumph

Back? Cloak of Blade Turning (MGT loot!)

Neck? Ancient Pendant of Arathor

Relic? Empty

Form he took on 1st wave? None - I checked his MH and buffed him with Might to start with.

Moonkin from them on.

DPS from Recount at end: 637

DK who joined on wave 13: 3k

Tank (me): 2k

DK who was there the whole time: 1.4k

Rogue who was in blues and greens and had 2.3k Atk? 1100 (... left at wave 13 to get kids off the bus)

The only good he did was to help ensure we got VH so it wasn't as painful as it could be.

No one said anything. At the end, I just put him on ignore.

I believe in being a teacher when possible but if you are level 80, dual spec'd, and haven't figured out how to play the main spec nor how to gear for it, you need more help than I want to offer.

Grats! and I agree with you on Lady D but I think you'll find Noggel is right, she gets easier once you've done it.

Katas ha yeah everyone is getting some good stories from the pick ups. Today we had a rogue doing sub 1k dps and he tells us he's training up axes. My guildmate told him he should be doing that on his time not ours but in the end whatever. Just get the instance done and move on.

This.

I just leveled my Hunter to 80, and in two days got him geared up decently. But even still in quest and instance blues, at 80, I was out DPSing a DK that had Quel'Delar.... I mean, seriously? I'm using an heirloom bow, and I'm outDPSing a DK in all 232 epics with a 260ish DPS weapon by over 1k... Seriously?

Its been my experience more people play incapacitated than anyone knows. Catch him on a sober night he might do okay.

Fun times, fun times.

Went back into ToC 25 last night for S&G. Couldn't do ICC as most of our A Raiders are on vacay. I managed to nab a new Back, as well as pull 2nd place on the DPS chart behind our Uber-1337 DeeKay, and in front of our other rogue who's WAY better geared than I am, and been doing mutilate as long as I have been doing combat.

Mutilate is stupid good right now. I managed to crack 11k on Twins briefly. Dropped back to 9973 for that fight overall though. :(

Dang I cant even sniff 9k dps. I hover around 6 or 7 usually if I'm lucky but I just re-worked my gear yet again so we'll see.

Its a gimmick fight. For the most part it favors Mut. Esp if I cheat and don't target switch like I'm supposed to, and get two empowered buffs >:)

Yah I figured it was something like that but still. Have you done Saurfang? Our rogues do big numbers on him because it's just a straightforward stomping for MDPS. My dps gets a bit neutered from not doing AE as much as I normally would.

Hopefully we get DB this week. We ran late on our Tues raid finishing up Deathwhisper and Gunship... and then didn't do ICC on Wed.

Stupid holidays.

Having crazy luck on Trohpys. Picked up my 4th and final trophy for the i245 set last night. I already have i232 in the chest slot though, so its not like its a massive upgrade. But what the heck else am I going to spend those Triumphs on anyways? I figure its either that or buy Crusader Orbs and sell em for ~175g a piece and maybe score a cheap Primordial Saronite, but would still be 3 away from making any ICC crafted piece.

**** I wish there were more options for Caster DPS trinkets.

Got pulled into a semi-PUG ICC10 as offtank last night. We got the first three bosses down but didn't go after the fourth because it was late. I got a new tanking mace and a shield, plus I got valuable knowledge of the instance before I start tanking it for my guild in a week or so.

Same. I run at least 4 of the ICC heroics per day (usually 6) between my two 80s, and I have yet to see it drop.

Wish I'd bought one for 5k the first day.....

We tore through Death Whisper and the ship fight this week, but Saurfang stopped us cold. I blame our kite-deficient boomkin. Maybe some strat help from someone here would be good.

This week we had two tanks flipping saurfang back and forth, 3 melee DPS, 2 healers, and 3 ranged (Mage, Booms, and Elemental shaman).

One of our healers (Another shaman) was up with the melee, dropping earthbind and keeping us alive. The other healer was in the backfield with the ranged DPS. Tanked the boss on the stairs.

The best run we got was getting him to about 40% before his first Mark went off. Once the mark happened, it usually went downhill from there. Our ranged played the Blood Beasts like this -

Boomkin grabbed one with moonfire, then rooted.

Mage and Shaman dealt with the other. When it was dead, all focused on the rooted one, and burned it. Then back to boss.

Any better ideas than that? Everyone tried to keep their distance, but in the grand scheme of things, that was only so useful.

40% for first mark isn't bad. With 3 melee dps they might want to help down the beasts after ranged has had a little time to grab good aggro. There's no reason melee can't dps them, you just don't want them getting aggro and taking hits.

Have the boomkin do his knockback spell. He probably is glyphed out of the knockback. The knockback helps a lot on this fight.

One strat is to let the first marked player die. This slows down the 2nd mark tremendously. Kind of depends who that first mark is though. Obviously either healer or the tank who's not currently tanking can't be left unhealed. If beasts are your problem then you can't let a ranged go either. So if you really can't down him any other way, then you wipe until one of your melee gets the first mark and let him die.

Well, we didn't have enough on for our usual 25 raids last night (no surprise), but we had 7 of our core players on, grabbed three others and did TOC for the weekly (Jaraxxus must die!) and then went into ICC-10 for an attempt on Marrowgar.

First time i have ever beaten the twins (and got Salt 'n Pepper 10 player as well), and Anub'arak, all without a single wipe, and Marrowgar eventually fell to us as well. (We didn't try Deathwhisper.) I topped the DPS charts in every fight except for the twins.

It was fun. Now if only we could get 25 to perform as well as 10...

The lament of oh so many. Server first or two for my 10 man team, yet it took us to the 3rd week to kill Saurfang25...

Speaking of Saurfang, it seems odd to me that you're wiping if you get him to 40% before the first mark, Monte. That should be pretty good. You should end up with 2 Marks before he dies at that rate, which is not only doable but still gets you the achievement. :p

You don't have to get particularly fancy with the Blood Beasts, especially on 10 man. If they're dying without really hitting anyone, then keep doing whatever you're doing. The only helpful tip I can suggest here is to spread out the ranged dps. Last week we did Saurfang 10 with 3 ranged who all inadvertently ended up on the left side and led to a bit of frenzied kiting until I moved to the right. But again, if the root one (out of melee range of everyone I hope!) kill other, kill rooted works fine, keep doing that.

If that's happening fine... if ranged/healers aren't chaining Blood Nova to one another (lower priority than kiting Blood Beasts if necessary though).. there isn't really much more to the fight. It's on the healers at that point.

Note that faster tank swaps means less healing done by Saurfang, so that can help. Disc Priests are really OP for this fight as any damage fully (100%) absorbed means no BP gain for Saurfang. Which makes me wonder if Holy Priest PWS is big enough to absorb a full tick of Boiling Blood or the damage Mark of the Fallen Champion does... hrm... You can also save Bloodlust for the last 20% or so. His minienrage is at 30% and under, but you likely won't be killing him in 40 seconds from 30%, and the benefit of waiting as opposed to using it at the start would be that Bloodlust helps the healers keep up with 2 Marks + tank healing for that last little stretch.

If your other healer happens to be a Disc Priest I'd just suggest using Bloodlust at the start for maximum damage and abusing the hell out of PW:S throughout the fight, maybe get him down before he casts even a single Mark... :p

edit: Oh, I'm also not too sure of keeping a healer in melee range. The Earthbind would be very helpful, but it runs the risk of getting aggro right when the Blood Beasts spawn. It's probably more of a 25 man concern, though. Still, when there are two Marks and the tank being healed, the healers are going to be outputting a ton of healing and it wouldn't surprise me for that to easily overpower one Moonfire, especially considering Moonfire glyph takes a huge bite out of the initial damage.

I'd need to see a WoL report to know any better though!

Logged on today for the first time since the patch and ran the first 2 new instances with pugs. Good to know I can still dominate the charts with sub-par gear, got a few compliments. Cool instances, too. Looking forward to Halls of Reflection.
