Oooh, sounds cool. I'll have to look for that one, thanks.

And, that's OK, Farsky. I don't think I saw Die Hard until sometime in this century.

Well then. Had you told me that my favorite film this year was going to be a troubled, three-decades-later sequel to a long-dead franchise in which I had no interest in the first place, I would not have believed you. But Mad Max: Fury Road is phenomenal. Believe the hype. Go see it now.

It was like a 2 hour panic attack, I loved every minute of it.

The mad bastards actually made the guitar & amp-truck. I've heard of practical effects, but damn.

As a mad guitarist, I've never realized what I aspired to, but now I know.

I really hope they auction that thing off to either some rock star or an obscenely rich celebrity who plays on the side.

Knowing that, say, Russell Crowe is out in Australia somewhere with his chauffeur blazing him down the highway in the middle of the night on that thing would make my world a happier place.

Genius. Really just confirms that there are what, four basic plot lines in all of art?!

Great quotes in the article about the flame-throwing guitar.

Quote:
MTV: Was there ever a worry about overloading the character with everything going on? Not that the movie is underplayed in any way, it’s brilliantly over the top, but was there a concern that a bungee-jumping flame-thrower guitar playing blind mutant in a red onesie riding a car made of amps might be one element too much?

Gibson: Oh no, I don’t think that George is one to worry about going over the top.

Even the soundtrack was incredible. This Junkie XL dude is goin places.

Also, from the YT comments:
Quote:
I Imagine the interview for the doof warrior went something like this.

Immortal Joe: "what is your name?"

Doof: "they call me the doof"

Immortal Joe: "have you killed before?"

Doof: "no, I have not"

Immortal Joe: "do you know how to fight?"

Doof: "I do not"

Immortal Joe: "then can you fix cars? Can you drive?"

Doof: "I don't know how to fix cars and I am blind"

Immortal Joe: "and you want to be a war boy!? Then what CAN you do?"

Doof: "me? I CAN ROCK!" pulls out guitar and shreds badass guitar rifts like a metal God

Immortal Joe: "... get this warrior a car NOW!... and put a flamethrower on his guitar!... why? BECAUSE I SAID SO, NOW GO!"

Doof Warrior: continues shredding in background

Also Also from the YT comments:

Mad Max best steampunk series ever....espiecally the guitar guy!

steampunk its something we DONT see in the movie, get your **** straight.

it's not steampunk. But it is kind of a dieselpunk film, though very devastated, unpolished kind

It's apunkalyptic.

See steampunk community? This is why I don't let you have nice things, and you can go die in a fire. Not everything cool is steampunk.

I don't purchase a lot of soundtracks. But when I do they personally lift my spirit up and carry it into Valhalla.

I LISTEN. IT ENDS. I LISTEN AGAIN!

Hey, Cyberpunk was here first, and actually has literary merit as a term. Those poseurs aren't with us.

Upon rewatching, it has lost none of its Shiny Chromeness.

Still, so so bloody good.

Since I apparently missed this the first time around, I feel I need to point out that the Ramones and Sex Pistols are just "punk" and don't have need of the wildcard in "*punk." You are, indeed, correct; they predate the *punk movements, and, infact, so heavily inspired the original of those (the cyberpunks I was pointing out have legitimate literary claim to the title by virtue of their clear derivation) as to bestow the use of their name upon them.

It's all the poseur sell-outs like steampunk, magepunk, and so on that are paltry, shallow affairs with no claim to the punk moniker except that they fancy themselves as analogous in cosplay taste to cyberpunk and wanted the coolness and identity that the label implies without earning any of it.
