Well then. Had you told me that my favorite film this year was going to be a troubled, three-decades-later sequel to a long-dead franchise in which I had no interest in the first place, I would not have believed you. But Mad Max: Fury Road is phenomenal. Believe the hype. Go see it now.

As a mad guitarist, I've never realized what I aspired to, but now I know.

I really hope they auction that thing off to either some rock star or an obscenely rich celebrity who plays on the side.

Since I apparently missed this the first time around, I feel I need to point out that the Ramones and Sex Pistols are just "punk" and don't have need of the wildcard in "*punk." You are, indeed, correct; they predate the *punk movements, and, infact, so heavily inspired the original of those (the cyberpunks I was pointing out have legitimate literary claim to the title by virtue of their clear derivation) as to bestow the use of their name upon them.

It's all the poseur sell-outs like steampunk, magepunk, and so on that are paltry, shallow affairs with no claim to the punk moniker except that they fancy themselves as analogous in cosplay taste to cyberpunk and wanted the coolness and identity that the label implies without earning any of it.
