I disagree. If nobody has kids, the world would fall apart. Just look at Japan, their demographics and future economic prospects are ****. Effects of too much birth control, abortions, selfishness, and people waiting until the perfect time.

Parasite single (パラサイトシングル parasaito shinguru?) is a single person who lives with their parents beyond their late 20s or early 30s in order to enjoy a carefree and comfortable life. In Japanese culture, the term is especially used when negatively describing young unmarried women.

Their problem also has to do with the cultural stigma of married mothers working and the lack of affordable or even abundant enough childcare services. This feeds back onto the issue of parasite single men who won't accept a major step down in lifestyle to start a family.

I'm not sure how people justify wanting parents to pay higher taxes. It is pretty ridiculous how the tax system for marriage reinforces gender stereotypes, though. If you marry a homemaker, you pay a lot less taxes. If you marry someone that makes the same $ as you, you both pay a lot more taxes.

The idea that having children is some kind of moral imperative is as pants-on-head idiotic as the idea that tax breaks are what spur people to procreate.

Certain people should probably be having more children. (Not that it's a moral imperative, it would just be good for the species/society as a whole.)

A far greater number of people should be having WAY fewer children.

The only thing pants-on-head-idiotic is thinking that this statement actually stands on its own as some sort of self-evident truth. Was it just laziness, or is passive-aggressively calling people idiots the favored way to spark an argument so you can dismiss them based on their posting style gotten down to this nonexistent level of effort now?

If it could be arranged that the wealthy and prosperous had more children, while the poor had significantly fewer, the entire issue would disappear.

Or even adopt some. Maybe some of the I-don't-have-kids brigade could adopt a child or two. That'd be harder than posting furiously on the internet about allegedly stupid people though, so I'm not optimistic.

Isn't this just an effect of progressive tax schemes, though?

If you marry a homemaker, your household income remains the same, and you qualify for marriage tax breaks. If you marry a career spouse who makes about the same amount of money, your household income doubles, and your relative tax burden as a percentage of your income increases because now you're likely paying taxes towards a higher bracket. This increase quickly overtakes the fixed tax break for marriage, and now you're paying more in taxes (even individually, since you've effectively halved the threshold for each of the tax brackets).

Let's look at another group that doesn't pay their fair share and whines about what a burden it is to contribute. Poor people. Most of them don't pay a dime and then ***** about rich people not paying their fair share.

(obvious trolling)

So then... the real solution is for the middle class to go out there and murder and obliterate the poor and lower class, then look at the rich and remind them that if we are willing to kill off our safety net... what would actually stop us from coming for them...

Poor people don't pay income taxes. They do pay sales tax, and in some cases may pay property tax. This is particularly true when it comes to gas, booze, or smokes.

This is precisely why tax discussions focus so much on making sure tax policy is "progressive" and that the rich are "paying their fair share." The Left does not want poor figuring out that their concern over tax policy extends only so far as income tax, and they are perfectly ok with taxes on some poor schmuck trying to enjoy a Bud Light on Friday afternoon, or jacking up the price he pays to drive the pickup truck he carries his work tools around in with 60 cents or more on a gallon of gas in tax.

Like most other favorite polices of the left, it's designed to APPEAR helpful while actually keeping the designated victim group perpetually in a state of needing help to overcome disadvantage, which can then be blamed on scary Republicans that obviously hate them.
