Are those Disneyland California attractions you're talking about? I'm unfamiliar with them. (Only been to Walt Disney World, FL. Hollywood Studios at WDW is getting a major makeover for Star wars attractions.)
Naw, the California Adventure part of the park didn't replace anything from vanilla Disneyland that I know of. It was near where the cars (the ones on a track with lawn-mower engines) are in the vicinity of the submarine ride. It really wasn't much, it was called Innoventions (
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Innoventions_(Disneyland)). It was more like a science-of-tomorrow attraction, probably the actual inspiration behind the Tomorrowland movie. Later on in life, it shifted toward tech company sponsored ideas, but still had cool stuff. But it was a place out of the sun, it made little kids' imaginations turn, and it was a good place to take a break.
The Starcade was just a regular ole cabinet video game arcade, but those fell outta favor so I get why they got rid of it. But that one was right next to Space Mountain so a different part of the park.

Wow, at one point there was a Monsanto attraction:
