It isn't. The druid was full of it.

I think the replies were likely to DS, however.

I have 3 specs on my pally (Holy, Ret, and Prot), and I only will roll need on the spec I am currently playing without first asking the group.

It wasn't too hard for me to gear up my tank set such that I felt comfortable tanking instances- just run as DPS, and put the emblems aside for tank gear. Combined with rep rewards and craftables, it works fine.

I'm at the point now where I've bought all the upgrades I can get from Triumphs as ret, so now all those badges are funneling into my prot set, and then they will funnel into my Holy set.

But I won't roll against someone elses current set unless they are OK with it, or I specified it ahead of time (ie, I'll run as DPS for this, but I really need X drop, so I will roll on it).

I'll always ask first unless there has already been a situation where say a healer rolled need on a DPS piece or a tank rolled on DPS etc.

I've seen tanks roll Need on tanking gear when they've got 48k health in a heroic. Yeah, those blue tanking pants are a real upgrade there, buddy. Some people will abuse the loot system in any way they can to get more stuff, even if that stuff just becomes a 5-10 gold vendor or a shard.

I suspect that's going on in the non-heroic arena with that tank trinket. Go in as the tank and "need" it over and over for shards or cash.

Unfortunately, for Druids and Death Knights, the Black Heart remains one of the best trinkets in the game.

One of the best for Paladins for quite some time, as well.

Paladins really don't need the Armor at this point, although it remains competitive because of superior Stamina Scaling.

Please do share the reasoning. Every paladin tank I know values armor quite highly.... Mitigation is awesome.

I think 7 of the last 10 tanks I've run with have been paladins. 2 warriors and a druid to the best of my recollection. I don't really get what's with the preponderance of them.

Paladin tanking is ezmode.

On an unrelated note, was running normal HoR on my mage. We kill the first boss, and the tanking cloak drops. The DK tank needs, and so does the DPS warrior. The warrior wins, claims he needs it for his offspec, and the tank quits just as wave 6 spawns. We wipe, and the other party members start yelling at the warrior. He claims innocence saying he has a right to the cloak to for his offspec. The group falls apart, and as I'm sitting in Dalaran in the queue again, I decide to check his armory. He doesn't HAVE an offspec. **** greedy ninjalooting bastards.

Zexx finally broke 2k ranking on WoW Heroes. 2073 gear score and 2208 overall score.

I am now in the range from Ulduar to TotCr 10 mans or EoE and Ulduar 25 mans.

Yeah, i'm advancing rather quickly, too. Was at 2886 rating on WoW-heroes last night, after being away for almost two weeks.

http://www.wow-heroes.com/index.php?zon ... ame=Tahlla

Unfortunately, my guild just gave up on 25 man content. We didn't get enough people reliably most nights, and some of the ones we would take were being carried (and mostly dropped, because we couldn't carry them) by the dozen or so with the competence and gear to handle it.

On the plus side, we breezed through the first part of ICC-10 (Marrowgar through Saurfang), before Rotface made us look like noobs again.

For the record, there is no excuse for anyone not being in an IL232 tier 9 set these days, as 2-3 random 5s a night will get you a set of tier 9 in no time at all, with a few 245 peices from triumph badges thrown in for fun. If you have people showing up for Icecrown Citadel in less than that, they need to go away until they've put in the effort to equip themselves as well as they can without raiding.

Kindly add this shitstain to the failmory, Mook.

See, I have a problem with this from 2 standpoints. On the one hand, I really don't see that the tank should be entitled to tank gear as a matter of course, mainly because like I said before A) tanks don't usually refrain from rolling on DPS gear (I haven't really checked on healers yet) B) people "need" on stuff for their "spec" that's inferior to what they have as someone else pointed out C) people do legitimately have offspecs they need gear for, and D) I object to "accepted practices" of the playerbase because people start treating them as Holy Writ, which facilities B) above.

On the other hand, the practice has its merits as well because of incidents like this *** rolling for his nonexistant offspec. If the tank has only a single spec (which in itself I find bizarre at 80) then he gets dicked on stuff like this since he may be competing against as many as 4 other people, depending if it's a typed armor (plate, mail, etc.) and the class breakdown.

The bottom line I think is that you can't be afriad to stand up for yourself when rolling for fear of offending some loot whore, but you shouldn't be greedy either.

Last night I did the Arena heroic, and that tanking trinket that boosts armor by like 7000 on hits dropped. I wasn't going to roll on it against the tank but then I saw that the healer (paladin) needed on it.

Maybe he's just being a dick, but if he wins I guarantee he's not going to give it over to the tank and we both get dicked. I ended up winning it. (To be perfectly honest, I don't even know if the tank needed; I only saw the healer roll) Maybe I should have given it up, but I figure I'm out of the running now for future rolls. I have managed to get a few more tankworthy pieces together so I'm probably going to start queing as tank for my nonheroics.

In your case above, by the way, your tank was as big an *** as the warrior; maybe bigger. He dicked over 3 other people because of a 4th persons *** move.

So… as to the whole - 'everyone ought to be in T9'

I am 4/5 T9 (T8 BP) as protadin.

2/5 T9 as retadin *which I don't use*

I bought the Wooly Mammoth

I am working on getting T9 for my alts (and banking 6 frosts/day if I can run at least 1 Heroic for all 3 characters)

Warlock is 1/5 T9. Mage is 0/5 but closing in on 30. Might have been there if not for issues yesterday.

Leveling an enhancement shaman (30 to 48 in ~1 month).

Last night, I did take Ick's Rotting Thumb from an H-PoS group when I won't use it all the time - my dodge is ridiculous and I debate Thumb vs. Heart.

However, I have Ick's, the axe, the claw, and I am down to a tanking neck for the last possible 5 man upgrade for that spec.

I will take +attack stuff if no one needs it but I do ask first. I took the neck last night from 1st boss because I was using the noose from Icecrown quests otherwise in offspec.

To me, I am also reaching the point of 'diminishing returns' from 5 man gear upgrades, especially when dual speccing.

My ret set is 3/5 T9, with i251 gloves and the t8 helm (it is borderline better, since the 4t9 bonus sucks). I have all of the needed triumph off-set items.

My prot set is 2/5 t9, with the i245 shoulders. The rest of the upgrades will come, but are minor- 100 odd HP, .10% avoidance, etc.

Paladins scale better than everyone except Warriors in terms of actual armor because of their shields. The reduced Armor Scaling on Frost Presence has equally geared DKs 10-11k Armor behind Paladins and Warriors at this point. And, because of scaling returns on armor in general, the armor (7560) from the Black Heart's proc isn't enough to merit replacing trinkets with 100 or more additional stamina and an on use effect that meets or exceeds it effect.

My Death Knight has 50k health, 31k Armor, and 62% Avoidance in his Single Target tanking spec. Heroic Gormok can still 1 shot him. Conversely, our Paladin Alt-Tank has 56.7k Health, 41.3k Armor, and 78% Avoidance in similar item level gear. And because of Block Mechanics is simply more survivable. Our Main Tank Paladins are approaching 65k Health.

Indeed, unless we need 3 tanks (Heroic Anub'arak, Putricide, Heroic Beasts (simplicity here)), our Feral Tank and Warrior tank spend their time DPSing at this point. We use the Warrior Tank (in Block Set) with a Paladin Tank (in Block Set) for Adds on Heroic Anub. The Paladin made it through the last kill taking 0 Damage from Burrower's, including 40 seconds he held 8.

Tanking is for Shields at this point.

What about replacing the T8 helm with the I245 triumph emblem helm?

I'm using T9.5 chest, T9 pants, I245 triumph emblem helm and shoulders, I251 lady deathwhisper gloves, etc.

Us, too. Our DPS are too used to being dragged along by our tanks/healers and are incapable of kiting, doing more than 3.5k dps if they can't stand in one place, or wait til the tank has actually engaged trash to start AEing...

It's a wonder we kill anything.

Hope to have a go at him again tonight, we have killed him a couple of times but I still dont feel we have him on farm. Festergut we've yet to down on 25 but we're within single digit percentage of doing it and that was with 2 people short.

Blood Princes we only got a few attempts at last time so I hope to get them down as well. I am hearing Blood Queen is pretty crazy in terms of a DPS check.

Does anyone here use World of Logs fairly often? I like to look at ours after a raid to see how I did. I notice their DPS scores vary from Recount, and seems like theirs are more accurate since it's just total damage / total time. The "active time" section is kind of vague though, was hoping someone could clarify that.

Timmit - for us, it's the opposite. Our healers and one of our ranged DPS have trouble with movement.

We cleared everything in one shot but Festergut last night, and got him by try three. We made several runs at the princes, and tonight will focus on Princes and Rotface. Hopefully one of them will drop

T10 Priest 2 Piece is the most broken set bonus in History. We were short our Holy Light Bot last night, so I ended up tanking Healing on my Holy Priest. So very, very, very broken.

Broken good or bad?

Anyway, we one shot Rotface last night which is good. We got the Princes in 2 tries which is even better, aaaaaand a big Fail on Festergut.

Our ranged deeps are having trouble with the running around for spores and puking thing. Also I think we have like 4 tanks, and I'm not sure why.

Although looking closer at the logs, one of our Wars is doing like 3k dps so I assumed he was in tank spec but yet he took no melee damage so I guess it's just 3 tanks and 1 really low DPSer.

We also have 6 healers. So it's like... no way can we pick up the DPS that much to compensate. We'd have to average OVER 9000!!!! and we dont have any Kakarot's in guild =p

Dashel:

Unless it's been hotfixed in the last 48 hours, it's broken good for guilds have have Holy Priests and broken very, very, very bad for PvP. The T10-2 Piece for Holy Priests was rolling Heal Counters sort of like Piercing Shots and Deep Wounds roll Bleed Counters and Divine Aegis and Val'anyr roll Shield Counters.
