So its sorta like if you took a pita and a foccacia and the had baby Naans?

It is. Indian food is pretty good overall. I'm kind of fond of garlic naan, but they also do things like add raisins, nuts, cinnamon and sugar that make a great dessert bread. The only limit is your imagination.

Next time you have reason to be up in Memphis find a decent Indian restaurant. They usually have a beginners Thali, which is basically a formal combination plate, usually some of their best basic stuff. You folks would probably like the Tandoori Chicken (pink, really) if you don't want to try the Thali.

Pakora, Samosa, Sambar, all good stuff.

Of course trying true Indian Chai is a real treat, if you like spiced tea with lots of milk.

Go mild. These people know how to make people weep with hot spices. I usually only go medium, unless I really need a good sweat.

Biryani is basically Jambalaya with Indian spices.

The kids would love the Mango Lassi, a yogurt fruit drink resembling a thin milkshake.

Obviously, one of my favorite cuisines. Jackson and Birmingham may have some decent Indian restaurants. I know Memphis has quite a few.

Anyone else a fan of good curry?

Add to the list of things with which I have made PB&J : Naan. Not the best medium for a good PB&J, but by far not the worst. The Pop Tarts experiment holds that title.

Indian food has never appealed to me, the spices just don't (edit-taste) smell good..

maybe I haven't given indian food a chance..but the smell of the spices just doesn't appeal to me...that being said..no...I haven't actually tasted it I'm one of THOSE that say they don't like it before we even taste it. Lol

I used to be that way Kirra.... a friend of Mus and I broke me of that. Because of that friend I have found something that is ultra yummy... Calamari! And I have had alligator because of this friend as well. (that was kind of yucky, but I tried it)
