Well, at least you're self-aware of this effect. It's what we've been trying to tell Monte he's prone to for years and he doesn't seem to get it, much less acknowledge it.

Of course, the flipside is that I think conservatives tend to miss actual racial issues more often than liberals as a result. Basically, when considering the relevance of race to an event, liberals get too many false positives and conservatives get too many false negatives.

Facism is not a school of thought, it is a racial slur.

Essentially it's a matter of "we'll start caring about racism when you start being consistent about it."

Last year, Bruso was involved in another incident, also captured on video and widely circulated on YouTube and other Web sites.

At an Aug. 3, 2009, A's ballgame, Oakland police officers used a stun gun on Bruso because he refused repeated requests to leave the ballpark. He hadn"t been drinking but had brought alcohol into the stadium, police spokesman Jeff Thomason said at the time. When Bruso refused to leave, Coliseum security asked Oakland police officers working the game to eject him. Three officers verbally tried several times to get Bruso to leave, but he refused.

The situation quickly escalated after Bruso made a rude gesture at one of the two officers. They then placed a handcuff on Bruso"s left wrist. A third officer arrived with a Taser, stunning the man in the left shoulder blade while another officer was placing the other cuff on Bruso"s right wrist. The third officer applied the Taser on Bruso again, this time near the middle of his back, which caused Bruso to fall forward into an aisle. He was charged with resisting arrest and taken to a hospital for a psychiatric evaluation.

I agree with that. I think that conservatives are generally unwilling to listen to complaints of racism because they really are not willing to hear complaints of racism when the same activities are perfectly acceptable when perpetrated against whites, males, or other grousp that are acceptable targets, and are masked with a fig leaf of redressing wrongs. "White privilege" or "male privilege" are the worst examples; racism that cannot be observationally verified in any way; it's simply assumed, and will therefore never go away.

I explain as an Irish American whose ancestors not only did not own slaves but suffered under the dominance of a far more evil empire for twice as long, I have no white guilt.
