Yeah I *think* we only keep 8 outside as well. I believe we let the DPS shammy in melee and another player or two.
How many healers and tanks do you go with though? I think we had 6 healers, that sounds like a lot. Tanks I want to say we had 3. So that's a lot to make up for, although the pally tank was pulling 5500 dps which isnt too shabby at all.
WoL shows 10 people hit by Vile Gas, which is only cast on ranged people (unless there aren't enough at range to begin with). A couple (healy priests) were only hit in the latter half of the fight which would either be RNG or they moved out or somefin. Ah well.
We bring 6 healers and 2 tanks as is pretty standard, I think. If your raid can beat the enrage timer there's no benefit to bringing less healers, though that's one area you can possibly cut down in if enrage timer is an issue. Judging by WoL you used 2 tanks as well, which is the best way to go DPSwise. 90% damage buff + a hand of salvation leads to pretty sweet damage by the tanks. :p
People do talk somewhat often about cutting down on healers for some fights, but barring issues with enrage timers I can't really understand it. ICC is pretty healing-intensive in many of its fights. This is especially prevalent on 10 mans. I've 2-healed every fight in the place now outside of Lich King and some fights are just miserable with only 2 (1 tank 2 healer non-burn P3 method is almost a contradiction, but it eventually worked). In many cases it's doable fine with 2, but the question is why bother? Again, if Festergut's enrage timer isn't an issue, dropping your healers from 6 to 5 makes your kill 10-15 seconds faster but greatly increases a risk of a wipe if your tank decides he doesn't want to dodge or parry 4 attacks in a row. Blood Queen is similar, with more difficult healing. It's almost impossible to hit the enrage on Blood Princes. etc etc. Then for Dreamwalker you probably should prefer 7 healers, so unless your guild is really flexible with dual spec healers it could be problematic. :p
If your healers can manage and overall raid dps is problematic then dropping down to 5 is a pretty viable way to turn your 2% wipes into wins. Otherwise I don't really see a benefit.

And if you ask me.......I am kinda looking for a small nerf to MM in the near future, since the PvP whiners on the O forums are complaining about the amount of burst +MS that MM has atm. If you like playing SV, just stick with it IMHO.
I once jumped a Hunter soloing fire elementals in Wintergrasp, without first putting my PVP gear.
I was killed in two global cooldowns! :p One, actually, since the Aimed Shot came first as soon as she could, then 1 GCD later the Chimera Shot came to finish the job.
I relate this amusing story not so much as an indication that MM hunters are OP or not, but more to say that PVP in WoW is broken, bandaid fixed by resilience gear.
My PVE gear, while not 25 man hard mode stuff by any means, is hardly shabby, and... two abilities + autoshot finished me from start to finish! I suppose a wolf chewing on me in the meantime deserves mention, and without it I don't think I'd have been fully killed by that chimera shot, but on the other hand, yeah, Aimed Shot is a 50% MS debuff.. :p
I try to banish this memory all the time but this is twice now in as many days someone brings up painfully relevant discussions! My shameful leavetaking of Wintergrasp... the mockery by guildmates... and by myself for not putting PVP gear on... it's still a fresh wound!
